Manulife Compliance Director in Dublin, Ireland
Reporting to the CCO for EMEA, MIMIL is recruiting a Compliance Director acting as PCF12 and Designated Person for Compliance (PCF 39) for a Dublin based “Super” Management Company “ManCo”.
This position is a broad-based role with support from the EMEA and Global Compliance Team. The successful candidate will have responsibility for regular board reporting to the MIMIL and Fund Boards. They will provide regular oversight of Delegated Investment Managers and other delegates, Product Governance and Distribution compliance. The role also involves implementation of regulatory developments, and enhancements to procedures and controls with respect to MIMIL’s operations.
Position Responsibilities:
Providing regular and ad hoc reporting to the ManCo and Fund Boards
The deployment and development of the MIMIL Compliance Programme
Implementation of regulatory developments and forming policy statements for adherence to applicable regulations
Working with the global compliance structures to ensure effective oversight of distribution activity and all relevant products distributed in the EEA
Responsibility for ensuring compliance with the Code of Ethics Policy (Global Compliance COE support) and all other relevant group and local policies
Oversight of all breaches and reviewing root causes to work with business partners to ensure recurrences are prevented
Regulatory reporting and management of the Compliance Calendar
Key compliance contact for Ireland employees. Provide training and information as required
Reviewing risks and controls in the various business units and service providers
Responding to various Board, client, and regulatory inquiries
Required Qualifications:
Educated to degree level with a strong academic background
At least 8-12 years of experience in an Asset Management Compliance function or relevant industry experience
Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to communicate clearly with senior executives
Ability to apply knowledge to a dynamic and complex global business
Solutions focused in a risk-based environment
Excellent knowledge and understanding of Luxembourg and Irish Regulators and Regulation UCITS, AIFMD and MIFID rules and regulations
General understanding of other European regulation and regulatory developments
Ability to understand and interpret complex regulations, assess their interdependencies and summarize their impact to provide pragmatic advice to the broader business
Ability to multi-task and work well under pressure
Pragmatic approach to managing multiple work areas and disciplines
Knowledge of complex securities
Ability to arbitrate and resolve conflicts between internal and/or external stakeholders
Work collaboratively with a wide range of business partners
Influence broadly across multiple stakeholders to provide regular advice to the business
A self-starter who can work effectively both independently and with others
Preferred Qualifications:
Legal background an advantage
IMC or equivalent an advantage
Fluency in one or more European languages is desirable
Experience in dealing with global stakeholders and Boards of Directors is preferred
