The position currently entails teaching a variety of lower- and upper-division Spanish classes, student advising, and departmental and collegiate service. The current teaching load is three 4-credit classes per semester. Salary range: $ $48,000 to $60,000 depending on qualifications Qualifications Required qualifications include a minimum of a Master's degree in Spanish or a closely related field from an accredited university at the time of application; two years of relevant teaching experience at the college level (TA experience accepted); evidence of strong teaching credentials; and outstanding oral and written communication skills in English and Spanish. Preferred qualifications include demonstrated ability to teach various levels of Spanish courses, experience teaching classes about Spain, experience teaching Language for Specific Purposes, such as for health and business professions, knowledge of contemporary pedagogy and best practices in teaching and learning, and experience working effectively with diverse groups in educational settings. About the Department UMD's Department of World Languages and Cultures, in the College of Arts, Humanities and Social Sciences, houses majors in Chinese, French, German, Spanish and Cultural Entrepreneurship. https://cahss.d.umn.edu/departments/world-languages-cultures/world-languages-and-cultures Department faculty work closely with our World Languages and Cultures Living Learning Community--now in its third year. Spanish course offerings contribute to the Liberal Education Program in the following categories: Oral Communication and Languages, Humanities, Global Perspectives, Cultural Diversity in the US, Sustainability and Fine Arts. Spanish Studies offers Advanced Spanish classes for both business and healthcare. Dedicated to High Impact Practices, we lead a six-credit program to Salamanca, Spain, every summer, are mentors to the Spanish Club, and host events such as world cultures cuisines cooking party.
