Description

We are offering an exciting opportunity for a Controller in Durham, North Carolina, United States. In this fully onsite role, you will be responsible for the overall management and coordination of all accounting and IT operations. The Controller will be instrumental in maintaining an efficient system of controls over accounting transactions to reduce risk, overseeing the preparation of financial statements, and advising on the handling of financial accounts and investments. Not for profit and supervisory experience are required for this permanent position.

Responsibilities:

• Direct and coordinate all activities relating to Accounting, Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable, General Ledger, Payroll, Billing, Purchasing, Information Technology, and Front Desk.

• Implement and maintain a documented system of accounting policies and procedures.

• Oversee the preparation of monthly and quarterly financial statements.

• Contribute to budget preparation and presentation.

• Monitor daily cash balances in operating and investment accounts, ensuring appropriate cash flow for the organization’s operations.

• Supervise fiscal year-end close and annual audit processes.

• Manage Program Services billing, ensuring timely submission and investigation of denials.

• Provide guidance on the management of financial accounts and investments.

• Recommend and monitor benchmarks to measure the company’s performance.

• Assist in the selection of equipment, software, and services necessary to support business operations.

• Analyze and advise on the purchase, recording, depreciation, and sale of assets.

• Oversee Grant accounting and compliance

• Evaluate and recommend insurance coverages for protection against property losses and potential liabilities.

• Oversee the management of the company’s information and telecommunication systems.

Requirements • Position requires a minimum of 10 years of experience in a similar role.

• Proficiency in Accounts Payable (AP) and Accounts Receivable (AR) management is necessary.

• Demonstrated experience in auditing is a must.

• Familiarity with budget processes and their implementation.

• Ability to handle month-end close procedures efficiently.

• Extensive knowledge of general ledger management.

• Proficient in preparing and analyzing financial statements.

• Experience in grant accounting is highly desirable.

• Skilled at performing bank reconciliations accurately.

• Expertise in budgeting and forecasting is essential.
