Hiring Range: Hourly rate is based on the college level candidate is currently in, 1st year (Freshman) $21.00 – 2nd year (Sophomore) $21.63 – 3rd year (Junior) $22.28 – 4th year (Senior) or Graduate Student $22.95
Work Day/Hours: Hours are based on students availability and needs of the department
The City of Durham’s nationally recognized, award-winning Technology Solutions Department (https://durhamnc.gov/830/Technology-Solutions) builds and aligns the City’s information technology infrastructure so that departments can deliver a superior level of public service. Our team is recognized nationally by the Public Technology Institute, ICMA Center for Performance Measurement and Digital Cities Survey.
The City of Durham is looking for an ambitious Cyber Security Analyst Intern who is looking to gain valuable experience and contribute to a professional team environment. This role will help to support the Cyber Security Division and enhance City of Durham security and compliance policy. Ideal candidates will be passionate about technology and hungry to learn and develop their skills. NOTE: Hybrid work schedule
Duties/Responsibilities
Involved in monitoring, assessing, and responding to threats directed towards City of Durham and implementing mitigating controls.
Resolve SOC related tickets.
Review daily security logs.
Participate in security cadence meetings.
Report metrics from security platforms for monthly executive briefs and other assigned duties.
Minimum Qualifications & Experience
Must be a currently enrolled undergraduate student
Academic focus/majoring/minoring in Information Security, Computer Science or Engineering.
Additional Preferred Skills
Basic understanding of networking and information technology.
