Job Title: Software Engineer

Job Description

Actalent Engineer has a client in Raleigh, NC, who is building out a serviceability team focused on enhancing the serviceability of products. In this role, you will be responsible for designing and testing software features, verifying that new features are working as intended, and determining the expected behavior of these features. You will need to quickly familiarize yourself with new code bases and processes, adapting to a variety of products and services within the portfolio. A solid understanding of networking concepts and the ability to work with various automation testing languages are essential. This role will also do development work from time to time.

Responsibilities

• Design and test software features.

• Verify that new features are functioning as intended.

• Define the expected behavior of new features.

• Quickly learn new code bases and processes.

• Communicate effectively with team members and external business entities.

• Work with various automation testing languages, mainly Python.

• Collaborate on projects involving networking protocols, API testing, and software development in a Linux environment.

Essential Skills

• 3+ years of Software Quality Assurance experience.

• Strong networking setup and troubleshooting skills.

• Proficiency in Python.

• Eagerness to learn new technologies and concepts.

• Experience with software development in a Linux environment.

• Strong written and verbal communication skills.

• Basic knowledge of virtualization, including Virtual Machines and Docker.

• Understanding of Agile software development methodologies.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

• Familiarity with cryptography.

• Experience with VMware.

Work Environment

The position is currently fully remote. However, there is a preference for local candidates who will eventually be able to come onsite. The ideal setup will be a hybrid schedule, where team members come onsite 2 days per week when onsite operations resume.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $38.00 - $40.00/hr.
