Leidos Distribution Engineering Manager in Earth City, Missouri

We are seeking a Distribution Engineering Manager to manage and oversee a team responsible for developing construction work packages for the electric distribution system using various software systems and construction standards. This role will require leading other distribution engineers, oversight and QAQC of both simple and complex engineering projects, working directly with clients, and ensuring the Leidos reputation of high quality is maintained.

This role is based out of the Kansas City, MO area and will require the selected candidate to report to an office in Earth City, MO at least 1 day a week, and should also be available for local customer meetings in the area as necessary.

As a Distribution Engineering Manager, you can expect to:

  • Provide technical oversight, direction, and support for project teams.

  • Function as client point of contact and liaison on project-related issues.

  • Collaborate with other design managers on broad client issues including schedule adherence and team quality control

  • Oversee and manage existing capital, reliability, and customer project work for clients: Customer project work may include reconductors, voltage conversions, load swaps, circuit rebuilds, DOT relocations, DG integrations, and new, large customer development feeds (OH & UG).

  • Facilitate client & team collaboration and communication; managing resource loading based on clients demands.

  • Track scope, schedule, and budget for projects in flight

  • Oversee QA/QC for your design team

  • Monitor team performance metrics

  • Track and report financial metrics

Typical Day

  • 10%-30% working with client remotely

  • 50%-60% Leading team, performing engineering and development of design pkgs for customer

  • 20% admin/planning/customer follow-up

What Sets You Apart (Required Qualifications):

  • BS in an Engineering Discipline (Electrical, Mechanical, Civil or Industrial) from an ABET Accredited institution/program

  • A minimum of 5 (five) years of prior relevant engineering experience

  • Demonstrated Experience leading engineering personnel

  • Proficient knowledge of the National Electric Safety Code (NESC) and comprehension of client construction standards.

  • Experience with electrical manholes, duct banks, and AC Secondary Networks

  • Experience writing RFPs and proposals

  • QAQC expertise

  • Experience with Customer interaction and Process documentation

  • Candidate must be able to provide their own reliable transportation

  • Strong communication skills, written and interpersonal communications skills.

  • Ability to work with limited supervision and provide leadership to other team members; Ability to work effectively in teams.

You Might Also Have:

  • Experience with software such as Pull Planner and Civil3d

  • Experience providing estimated costs

  • Experience with AutoCAD--performing Electrical Distribution design

  • PMP certification and/or PE license

Pay Range:

Pay Range $72,150.00 - $130,425.00
