Cartamundi Cost Accountant in East Longmeadow, Massachusetts

The Cost Accountant ensures the integrity of financial records through the month-end closing process and various account analyses throughout the month. Drives management decision-making through reporting and interface with operations personnel. Uses and monitors the proper internal controls/procedures to ensure that financial transactions are accurately recorded.

What you’ll do as a Cost Accountant:

  • Prepares and inputs journal entries, review of variances, and re-classing accounts for month-end settlement and closing process.

  • Analyzes and reconciles accounts to ensure the proper recognition of expenses; correct errors; communicate process errors across ELM site to prevent further occurrence.

  • Prepares and analyzes various weekly/monthly reports to highlight activity and trends, which may include material usage, production variance, labor variance or various expense reconciliations.

  • Maintains databases/spreadsheets for controllable expenses, temporary employees, prepaid expenses, utility accruals and others as required.

  • Reviews controllable expenses with department managers monthly.

  • Reports and monitors labor hours, temporary employees via ADP.

  • Ensures accurate timing of expenses by reviewing parked invoice reports and open purchase order reports.

  • Assists in the monthly cycle counts and year-end physical inventory.

  • Assists in budget preparation for the Operations division.

  • Reviews 3PL warehouse P&L and make adjusting entries as needed.

  • Maintains effective functional relationships with East Longmeadow colleagues.

We’re looking for a Cost Accountant with:

  • BS in Accounting or Finance

  • Five years of accounting experience, preferably with a manufacturing facility. Cost accounting experience is preferred.

  • Knowledge in SAP and proficient PC skills – Microsoft Office (Excel, Access, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook), ADP

  • Ability to work independently as well as part of a team

  • Strong commitment to safety and adherence to safety guidelines.

  • Effective communication skills and ability to work in a team environment.

Our manufacturing Plant is comprised of enclosed office and manufacturing space. This position requires:

  • Communication skills and the ability to collaborate with others

  • Ability to perform sedentary work on various computer systems

  • This Cost Accountant position is located on-site in our East Longmeadow facility
