Actalent Project Engineer in Eastlake, Ohio

Job Title: Project Engineer

The Project Engineer will play a critical role in the successful introduction of new products into manufacturing processes. This position requires a deep understanding of engineering principles, project management, and cross-functional collaboration. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in product development, process engineering, and quality assurance. You will be responsible for coordinating with various departments, including design, manufacturing, quality, and supply chain, to ensure that new products are launched on time, within budget, and meet all quality standards. You will also be tasked with identifying and mitigating risks, troubleshooting issues, and continuously improving processes to enhance product performance and manufacturability.

Responsibilities:

  • Drive alignment of New Product Introduction strategy with internal stakeholders and the external supplier base.

  • Project manage new parts, maintain and follow-up on action plans.

  • Coordinate cross-functional teams to ensure successful product launches.

  • Create and maintain detailed project plans and timelines.

  • Part processing documentation in ERP/MRP system (BOM’s and routers).

  • Monitor and report on project progress and performance.

  • Identify and resolve production issues and adjust 3D models along with creating proper detailed drawings for production.

  • Design, manufacture, and implement production and test fixtures.

  • Develop manufacturing process standards for special processing, coatings, and other requirements for product components.

  • Contribute to the team by providing innovative ideas/concepts.

  • Contribute to new production introductions and project launches.

Hard Skills

  • Experience programming CNC Mills/Lathes (up to 4-axis)

  • Previous NPI experience (new product introduction)

  • Previous experience managing projects from start to finish

  • Solidworks and MASTER CAM

  • Bachelor's degree (if no degree, must have applicable experience)

  • Previous hands-on experience with machining components (Bridgeport, Lathe, CNC etc.)

  • Experience in interpreting prints by operation and final inspection

  • Experience with Lean Manufacturing and Six Sigma methodologies

Soft Skills

  • Excellent communication skills

  • Attention to detail

  • Ability to work under pressure in a fast-paced environment

Work Site

This is a fully on-site position in Eastlake, Ohio.

Work Environment

This role will mainly be spent on the manufacturing floor. Day-to-day tasks include developing the program, working with operators, developing a process all the way through, then turning the part over to production. Tasks also include making fixtures, conducting trial runs, documenting it into the system, performing qualification runs, and finally submitting to the customer. The role involves running up to three new parts/projects at a time.
