Statement of Purpose The Youth Services Librarian performs professional duties including programming for children, teens and families; answering reference, readers' advisory and technology questions; liaising with community partners; overseeing collection development of youth materials; and additional functions in specialty area of responsibility. Requires some evening and weekend hours. Reports to the Library Director.

Develops, conducts, and evaluates story times, programs and outreach events for youth and families Serves as a liaison to community partners serving children Responsible for collection development of youth materials including purchasing, cataloguing, evaluating and weeding Connects patrons to necessary community resources available for and related to youth Prepares booklists, displays, bulletin boards, etc. with special emphasis on youth interests Works a busy public service desk, creates library cards, handles money, and performs circulation duties including checking items in and out, shelving and shelf-reading Provides customer service, technology assistance and reader's advisory for patrons of all ages from diverse backgrounds Guides library patrons in the effective use of library services and resources Promotes library programs and services by contributing to the library newsletter, website events, fliers, and social media Utilizes technology and various applications daily for programming, marketing, and administrative duties Serves as a liaison on different cross community boards, district and Town committees including the Teen Advisory Board Serves as part of a collaborative, effective team: acts as a staff resource in area of specialty; creates statistical reports; participates in strategic planning and work plan creation and implementation Recommends budget, equipment, and supply purchases Coordinates snack and meal services with the Weld Food Bank Regularly acts as Person In Charge of the library Maintains knowledge of l brary best practices, trends, and issues through ongoing professional development May coordinate and direct the work of volunteers Performs other duties as required and necessary to ensure the success of the organization
