Building Maintenance Mechanic

1st Shift

Depending on Qualifications will pay up to $38/hr

Job Description

The Building Maintenance/HVAC Technician position is responsible for efficiently maintaining all HVAC equipment and infrastructure supporting equipment and components at the EP campus. The Technician also supports all ancillary equipment used in the production/sanitation process in RTE.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Repair physical structures and equipment using industry standards and collaborate with other departments as needed.

  2. Work with other departments to ensure repairs are completed on a timely basis.

  3. Complete all required paperwork for Production and the department, including Daily PM Walk Through, Maintenance board, Parts checkout sheet, Work Order (enter new and complete assigned), and other documentation as required.

Safety:

  • Demonstrate a solid understanding of Good Manufacturing Practices (GMPs) for various areas of the plant.

  • Assist in maintaining a clean, safe, and organized workspace.

  • Demonstrate safe work habits by following all safety rules and general plant rules.

  • Wear Personal Protection Equipment, such as cut-resistant gloves, hard hats, or safety glasses, based on the task being done.

  • Successfully complete mandatory quarterly safety training.

Technical Scope:

  • Display an advanced ability to manage time and perform self-directed work.

  • Work with outside vendors to improve current processes or find future process improvements.

  • Learn location and layout of all facility equipment across the site, including HVAC, refrigeration, utilities, and physical infrastructure.

  • Perform and maintain building and grounds, basic plumbing, painting, moving furniture, occasional snow shoveling, and ice removal.

  • Display advanced understanding and aptitude of mechanical, electrical, and pneumatic processes and procedures while troubleshooting equipment.

  • Use basic hand and power tools to identify and remedy mechanical issues.

  • Perform mechanical repairs efficiently and effectively.

  • Display high-level understanding of pumps and pumping systems.

  • Use a meter to perform high-level troubleshooting to component level and replace/program electrical components.

  • Display advanced electrical abilities and troubleshoot and maintain HVAC and refrigeration systems.

  • Help to build PM procedures for all building/HVAC equipment and complete Work Orders in CMMS.

  • Follow all aspects of the Maintenance Planning Process and Parts Process.

  • Maintain good attendance, GMP, and Safety records.

Continuous Improvement:

  • Understand general principles and goals of Continuous Improvement/LEAN program.

  • Take an active role in new equipment design/install projects.

  • Participate in any company-mandated or recommended training to grow skills within the given scope of the role.

Quality:

  • Have an understanding of SQF Level 3 (Food Safety & Quality), regulatory & customer requirements, and HACCP Plans.

  • Understand your responsibility in protecting the safety and quality of our food through proper GMPs.

  • Report any questionable product to QA or QC.

Teamwork:

  • Assist in providing a friendly, positive work environment and show respect for all co-workers.

  • Accept work instructions and complete requests from co-workers.

  • Provide input and feedback on department updates, status, changes, etc.

  • Provide training for Technicians as needed.
