Description We are seeking an experienced Senior Accountant for a 3–4-month contract with a leading organization in the banking industry. This role will focus on managing daily accounting activities, financial reporting, month-end close processes, and ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements. The ideal candidate will bring strong technical accounting skills, banking industry expertise, and the ability to work independently to deliver high-quality results.

Key Responsibilities:

Accounting Operations & Reconciliations:

Oversee daily accounting tasks, including reviewing and resolving discrepancies in account reconciliations.

Manage accounts payable (AP) operations, including tracking invoices, coding payments, and processing approvals.

Ensure timely payments and perform follow-ups on outstanding payables.

Month-End Close (ME) Activities:

Lead the month-end close process by preparing and posting accrual entries, investment entries, fixed asset entries, and calculating depreciation.

Ensure all reconciliations for balance sheet and income statement accounts are accurate and issues are resolved promptly.

Financial Reporting:

Prepare accurate and timely financial statements, providing insights on net income performance.

Support the preparation of quarterly regulatory Call Reports.

Collect and consolidate permanent funding and liability data for executive reports.

Board Reporting & Leadership Support:

Assist in compiling and editing board meeting presentations and supporting materials using PowerPoint.

Work closely with leadership to address ad hoc requests and provide key financial insights.

Technical Expertise:

Strong proficiency in Excel (Pivot Tables, VLOOKUPs, SUMIF formulas).

Ability to identify and resolve discrepancies in financial reconciliations.

Experience preparing financial statements and working with regulatory reporting requirements (e.g., quarterly Call Reports).

• Proven expertise in Account Reconciliation

• Proficiency in Balance Sheet Reconciliation

• Experience in performing Bank Reconciliations

• Familiarity with General Ledger maintenance

• Ability to make accurate Journal Entries

• Advanced skills in Microsoft Excel

• Experience in Month End Close procedures

• Knowledge of Fixed Asset Accounting and Fixed Asset Depreciation

• Proficiency in Accrual Accounting

• Experience with Fiserv software is a plus

• Background in Investment Banking is preferred

• Proven ability to prepare Financial Statements

• Experience in Regulatory Reporting is essential
