Job Summary:

The Assistant Maintenance Mechanic position works under the direction of the Maintenance Planner or Superintendent of Production and supervision of the Maintenance Mechanics. All matters listed herein are considered to be essential job functions. There may be other job functions that are essential but not listed below. This may be revised at any time deemed necessary. Work Performed:

  • Performs inspections at all production facilities including: Pumps, motors, building, electrical wiring and equipment and chemical and chlorine feed equipment.

  • Monitors water levels in storage tanks, chlorine cylinder weights, oil and fuel levels in storage tanks and record well pumping information.

  • Performs general housekeeping and grounds keeping at facilities.

  • Performs start up and shutdown of chlorination and well pumps as required.

  • Performs chlorine residual analysis.

  • Attends both in-house and vendor sponsored training courses and seminars as required

  • With the Maintenance Mechanics, performs plumbing, carpentry, welding, electrical, chemical feed system and pipe fitting operations and maintenance.

  • Performs switch over of the chlorine supply at well field as required.

  • Performs chemical receiving at CJO Plant and designated remote facilities and safe handling including 150# chlorine cylinders.

  • Performs inspection of plant equipment, Intake station and metering pits.

  • Snow removal at CJO Plant and remote facilities.

  • Work weekends and holidays as scheduled.

  • Clean various basins, storage tanks and reservoirs as necessary.

  • Adheres to and promotes the Company safety policy and practices as it pertains to the job.

  • Performs other related duties as required.

Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or equivalent, required.

  • Must maintain a valid NJ Driver’s License.

  • Must have at least four years of experience in plant, motor, electrical, and pump maintenance operation.

  • A specific trade skill may be required in either electrical, plumbing, carpentry etc. at time of hire.

  • Must have the ability to obtain T-1 license within three years of date of employment

Physical Demands: The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by any and all employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.

  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee is required to lift up to 100 pounds, climb, crawl, stoop, reach, grasp, and stand.

  • Work also emphasizes visual acuity, ability to smell, hearing, and speech.

Candidates must possess authorization to work in the United States.

Candidates must be able to pass a drug screen, pre-employment physical, background check, and have a valid driver’s license.
