Based out of the Electrical Division Edmonton (EDE) location,This position is responsible for the maintenance and operations of both wired and wireless networks and telecommunications equipment. In addition, maintain, repair and upgrade the computer equipment and network infrastructure of Powell Canada.

Essential Responsibilities

• Participation in implementation of new technology services and network infrastructure upgrades.

• Ability to administer and configure standard Windows networking platforms and all associated software.

• Responsible for creating software deployment packages for both OS and applicable software packages using WDS and MDT.

• Some experience with VMWare, Windows Server and Desktop, Power Shell, Active Directory, Group Policy, Role Based Administration (network permissions).

• Configuration and implementation of telecommunications or data network equipment.

• Responsible for network print services, including scanning functionality.

• Responsible for inventory and asset management.

• Perform hardware and software maintenance, troubleshooting and assist Powell departments with Help Desk tickets as they arise.

• Maintain written IT related documentation.

• Provide internal and external customer service to all departments, sites and customers by being professional, courteous and confidential.

• Maintain change control and possess good understanding of change management procedures.

• Good understanding of Network and Cyber Security practices.

• Good understanding of network topologies, protocols, and platforms and demonstrates logical approach to troubleshooting.

• Familiar working with a Help Desk system.

• Familiar with backup platforms and associated concepts. (i.e. Restoring Files)

• Ability to diffuse stressful situations and handle department and site complaints.

• Maintain network certification, as well as ongoing education.

• Must have excellent communications skills, both verbal and written.

• Perform other related duties as assigned.

Qualifications

• Post-Secondary education/Certification in a related Information Technology field is an asset

• Minimum 1 year experience in a related field is required.

• Possess excellent organizational skills and ability to prioritize and manage multiple tasks simultaneously.

• Self-starter, patient, willing to learn, highly motivated and have a methodical approach to problem solving.

• Hold a valid driver’s license with clean drivers abstract in order to provide support to field offices and the various Powell sites in a timely fashion.

Working Conditions

• Majority of work is performed in office/shop space.

• Job requires working in varying weather elements, depending on job locations, time of year, heat, cold, rain, snow.

• Must be able to work from all type of ladders (step ladders, "A" frame ladders and all size extension ladders).

• Must always wear Personal Protective Equipment (i.e., steel toe footwear, safety glasses, hard hat, safety harnesses as required).

• This position will require occasional travel to remote locations.

Physical Requirements

• Maintaining body equilibrium and agility to prevent falling when walking, standing, crouching, ascending or descending stairs.

• Bending the body at the waist, the legs at the knees, and extending arms and hands in any direction in a repetitive manner.

• Using upper extremities to apply or exert a force up to 50 lbs.
