Position Description:
Manages a unit within a department. Plans, organizes and develops goals and procedures for the unit. Represents the unit to administrators, outside agencies and others on relevant matters. Supervises subordinate staff.

Major/Essential Functions:
Supports the Service Plus philosophy of Texas Tech University Health Sciences, and personally demonstrates and acts in accordance with the TTUHSCEP values of accountability, respect, service, integrity, advancement, and teamwork.
Creates original cataloging and metadata in OCLC, Alma/Primo, and other digital repositories.
Copy catalogs, edits metadata, imports metadata, and curates metadata in the libraries' Alma/Primo Discovery system.
Runs jobs to maintain the Alma/Primo system.
Answers library reference questions, assists library patrons, and performs literature searches.
Tasks are performed in person, via telephone, via email, in library chat room, via STM, and using other web-based reference tools.
Teaches courses (both credit and non-credit), conducts orientations, provides on-demand instructional sessions, designs instructional modules, and teaches seminars for faculty, residents, community members, and students.
Advises and provides feedback related to departmental goals, policies, and procedures.
Participates in the libraries' NLM and NNLM community outreach activities including writing grant applications.
Adhere to all TTUHSCEP policies, procedures and processes. Personally demonstrate, display, and act in accordance with TTUHSCEP’s values (Service, Respect, Accountability, Integrity, Advancement, and Teamwork).
Actively promote and encourage staff across the institution.

Preferred Qualifications:
AHIP certification preferred but not required.
Demonstrable computer skills, including the ability to teach others computer skills.
Demonstrable teaching skills. Primo VE Administration Certification preferred but not required.
Knowledge of library purchasing practices.
Ability to use PC systems.
Master's degree in Library/Information Sciences from an ALA-accredited institution.
At least one year of experience working full-time in a health sciences library environment, and one year of experience working in an academic library systems department.
Bilingual English/Spanish.
