Dexter Magnetic Technologies offers a rewarding and structured internship program where interns will work on industry projects setting them on an accelerated career path. The purpose of a Dexter internship is to provide students with the opportunity to gain real life business acumen within the Magnetics Industry. WHAT CAN YOU EXPECT IN AN INTERNSHIP AT DEXTER?
Work on projects that are related to your areas of interest and study with a high level of autonomy and ownership. These projects are designed to bring value to our business.
Dexter will provide weekly trainings that will be delivered by our experienced business leaders to improve your business acumen.
Interns will also be provided with personal development training and feedback.
Our internship program is diverse across functions and the group of interns will be regularly interacting.
Each intern is partnered with an experienced peer as a mentor.
Interns are included in company events and receive paid holidays.
Our interns who perform well are considered for future internship opportunities as well as full-time employment after graduation.
Our interns will be expected to work onsite at our manufacturing facility throughout the summer to collaborate with team members and peers.
Interns in the Summer of 2025 will experience our high-tech new facility in Elk Grove Technology Park.
ROLE RESPONSIBILITIES:
Create and analyze Warehouse Scanning Process for moving inventory
Participate in and lead 5S activities
Conduct Epicor (ERP system) earned Hour accuracy Time studies
Implement Kanban (inventory) system in material storage cabinet
Create training videos (TWI Standardized)
Conduct time studies for key processes identified
Get familiarized with Machine monitoring software and data collection to help launch an OEE monitoring system.
Assist with waste reduction in the manufacturing process using AI software.
EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE:
Must be currently enrolled in an accredited university pursuing a bachelors degree in Mechanical, Industrial, or Quality Engineering, or Continuous Improvement (i.e., Lean, Six Sigma), and be an incoming Junior or Senior Fall 2025
Strong Analytical skills and desire to improve
Skills in Excel, PowerPoint, and Visio (a plus)
Knowledge of Lean and/or Six Sigma plus
Self-starter
Balance between being Detail and Big Picture oriented
Hourly Rate:
1 year of college completed \$22 per hour
2 years of college completed \$24 per hour
3 years of college completed \$26 per hour
4 years of college completed \$28 per hour
