Job Summary:

The Certified Nursing Assistant is accountable for all patient care given during the assigned shift. C.N.As need to adhere to all standards of nursing practice within their scope of training as a nursing aide, along with managing supplies and equipment under the direction of the nurse on duty. Promoting positive teamwork and keeping a positive attitude is key to working in a home that our residents live in. C.N.As need to adhere to Yesterdays Children Inc.s policies including but not limited to: Confidentiality, HIPPA, Clients Rights Abuse, Neglect and Mistreatment, harassment.

Minimum Requirements:

  • Placement as a C.N.A on the Maine Registry of Certified Nursing Assistants.
  • Maine Background Check
  • CPR certification
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Ability to multi-task and take direction well
  • Ability to work as a team member
  • Positive attitude

Job Functions:

  • Assisting residents with activities of daily living: personal hygiene, eating, and mobility while working on helping them become as independent as they are individually able to
  • Repositioning immobile residents if needed
  • Ambulatory assistance as needed
  • Monitoring food and water intake
  • Taking and reporting vital signs and weights once a month
  • Monitoring and reporting changes in behavior, health, vitals etc.
  • Showing compassion and empathy
  • Provides residents with comfort by utilizing resources and materials; transporting clients; answering call bells and requests and reporting all observations of any differences in appearance and how they are behaving.

  • Participating in recreational activities with the clients in the community
  • Participating in program activities with residents at Zilpha M. Booth Learning Center
  • Helping to maintain a warm and inviting home for our residents
  • Become familiar with individual behavioral interventions as appropriate
  • Work with residents regarding any consultation recommendations, i.e. physical therapy, sensory etc.
  • Follow residents Personalized plans as they are written.
  • Treat residents with respect and dignity
  • Report all resident concerns
  • Be courteous to residents families/guardians.
  • Represent the residents positively in the community and in their home.
  • Cooperate with fellow employees to provide a positive atmosphere and attitudes.
  • Assist other members of the staff when they need it.
  • Discuss problems with the appropriate chain of command.
  • Ask for help when you need it.
  • Knowledge of Yesterdays Children, Inc. Emergency safety plans.
  • Comply with the code of conduct and all other policies appropriate to the position.
  • Perform all duties in a safe manner to maintain the safety of the residents as well as the safety of yourself.
  • Practice infection control procedures such as handwashing, aseptic techniques, and universal precautions.
  • Maintains good attendance practices.
  • Attending all mandatory in-service trainings that are offered and required.
  • All other duties as assigned.
