Shalmet Corporation Manufacturing Supervisor - Shalmet OH in Elyria, Ohio

Shalmet, based in Elyria, OH, specializes in coil-to-coil, coil-to-bar, bar-to-bar, and hollow bar processing of stainless, superalloys, titanium, carbon and alloy steels, aluminum and other nonferrous materials. With a second manufacturing facility in Orwigsburg, PA, Shalmet also provides rebuilding and re-engineering of customer machines. Shalmet was acquired by Carpenter Technology Corporation in 1997 and operates within the corporation's Specialty Alloys Operations division. MANUFACTURING SUPERVISOR -SHALMET OH (Elyria, OH location) PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES FOR THE MANUFACTURING SUPERVISOR Provide production employees with guidance, direction and supervision in support of departmental operations. Promptly address performance issues. Actively promote all company policies and expectations, especially in support of safety plans and results. Plan and schedule operations within assigned area of responsibility. Maintain a positive work environment by regularly communicating with employees on the shop floor and responding to employee issues and concerns in a timely manner. Maintain well-organized and productive work areas. Work with others to achieve department and company goals and objectives. Coordinate and supervise the daily activities of the production team. Set priorities for the team to ensure task completion: coordinates work activities with other supervisors. Decisions are guided by policies, procedures and business plan; receives guidance and oversight from manager. Ensure a safe workplace. Promote ways to improve the quality of life and protect the environment in the communities in which the Company does business. Perform all other duties and special projects as assigned. REQUIRED FOR THE MANUFACTURING SUPERVISOR To be considered all applicants must attach a resume outlining experience and qualifications. Two-year college degree preferred. High School Diploma required. Minimum two years supervisory experience in a manufacturing/operational/shipping receiving environment. Working knowledge of MS Office - including Outlook, Word and Excel Ability to work any shift and must be able to work weekends. Strong support of safety and operational requirements. Excellent written and verbal communication skills and interpersonal skills with an emphasis on mutual respect. Strong problem-solving skills and decision-making skills. Demonstrated leadership ability; sets high expectations for performance. Ideal candidate will be trustworthy with the ability to influence others and a willingness to offer a dissenting opinion before final decisions are reached. Ability to successfully coordinate internal and external resources, organize and prioritize tasks. Disciplined results orientation with the ability to work effectively as part of a team Initiative. SAP experience.
