  • Provide Career Services to registered and eligible customers with the goal of connecting them to self-sufficient employment.
  • Complete intake and eligibility determination for the workforce program. Assess jobseekers employment and training needs and abilities through interviewing, testing and other methods.
  • Provide consistent and intensive case management services to eligible customers within the One-Stop system to include follow-up services.
  • Conduct orientation sessions, workshops, job clubs and other group presentations for clients.
  • Counsel clients on the local labor market, available job opportunities, training programs and other services provided by partners.
  • Facilitate an Initial, and Comprehensive Assessment, and create an Individual Employment Plan/ Individual Service Strategy (ISS) with customer input, to address remediation of job-related barriers and/or deficiencies and identify necessary skills to promote success in the program.
  • Build professional one-on-one working relationships with customers to assist in eliminating challenges that are hindrances to obtaining and retaining employment.
  • Refer individuals to appropriate services, training programs or job opportunities and follow-up on those activities.
  • Enter data into and otherwise use and process clients through any participant information system as required, and any other database as required by the One-Stop system.
  • Document all participant contacts and activities in case progress notes. Utilize proper tracking tools to ensure monthly contacts and appropriate provision of services with customers.
  • Complete Individual Training Account (ITA) vouchers and other documents required for clients entering training.
  • Follow all policies, procedures and regulations related to eligibility documentation; ensure that case files have originals and/or copies of eligibility documentation.
  • Maintain accurate individual case files for each registered customer assuring that each file contains all required eligibility documents and meets compliance requirements
  • Provide referral and tracking of eligible customers into contracted programs provided on-site at the One-Stop centers and/or located in the community in accordance with established contracts.
  • Maintain continuous communication and collaborative activities with Business Service Representatives to set up Work Based Learning Opportunities. Refer customers to in-house hiring events, job/career fairs.
  • Meet and/or exceed program benchmarks. Participate in all staff related events as required including but not limited to training, staff meetings and individual supervision;
  • Respect and protect the privacy of participants when gathering, recording, storing and sharing confidential information.
  • Complete all required reports
  • Demonstrate efficient computer skills (MS Word, Excel, Power Point and KANSASWORKS data base)
  • Assist with customer outreach using various social media platforms.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Job Location and Time Commitment:

This position will have a principal office location at the Emporia Workforce Centers and the position will be required to travel within the 17-county area as needed. This position is a full-time, hourly position. This position is expected to work 40 hours per week. Overt me hours will be based on the business needs of the organization and must have prior approval of the immediate supervisor. Employment is an at will employer-employee relationship.

Job Qualifications and Experience:

  • Prefer Bachelors or Associates degree, but not required.
  • Bilingual Spanish and English
  • Previous experience in the employment/training field preferred.
  • Knowledge of federal and state workforce development programs and policy.
  • Experience working with the community, public and non-profit organizations, and all levels of government.
  • Ability to relate effectively with people with a high level of integrity.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Strong analytic ability and technical competency.
  • Must possess general PC proficiency and strong skills in MS Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
  • Must have a valid drivers license and valid automobile insurance.
