Description of Work Food Service Workers perform routine work in the preparation of meals and sanitation of food preparation and serving areas at the Pennsylvania Soldiers' and Sailors' Veterans Home. Your responsibilities encompass cleaning and sanitizing equipment, utensils, dishes, pots, pans, work surfaces, and other kitchen items. Additionally, you will be responsible for preparing trays, measuring portions, serving food, and transporting trays, carts, and nourishment. This role also involves operating various kitchen equipment, such as mixers, dicers, slicers, knives, and grinders.

Work Schedule and Additional Information: Part-time employment, 8.0 hours per day, 40 hours biweekly Work hours are 2nd shift (10:30 AM to 7:00 PM), with 30-minute lunch. Your work schedule will follow a two-week cycle. During the first week, you will work on Saturday, Sunday, Monday, and Friday. In the second week, you will work on Monday only.

Preferred Qualifications (not required): Previous food service worker experience. Willingness to work in Erie, Erie County, Pennsylvania. Willingness to work part-time. Willingness to work 10:30 AM to 7:00 PM. Food service experience in an assisted living facility, nursing home, hospital, restaurant, or other food service operation. Experience interacting with patients, residents, or customers while serving food/cleaning in patient/resident rooms or a dining room setting. Work experience with food safety and sanitation in a dietary department.

Legal Requirements: A conditional offer of employment will require a medical examination. This position falls under the provisions of the Older Adult Protective Services Act. Under the Act, a conditional offer of employment will require submission and approval of satisfactory criminal history reports, including but not limited to, PA State Police and FBI clearance.
