Emerson Senior Database Administrator (Microsoft) in Escazú, Costa Rica

We are seeking a highly skilled Microsoft SQL Server DBA with experience in Azure cloud services to join our dynamic IT team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for ensuring the performance, availability, and security of SQL Server databases in both on-premises and Azure environments. They will play a crucial role in the design, implementation, and maintenance of our database systems, while also contributing to our cloud migration and optimization efforts.

In this Role, Your Responsibilities Will Be:

  • Review and revise practices and processes to enhance the efficiency of access for users.

  • Participate in capacity planning for storage, servers, and network components to ensure performance and service level agreements.

  • Plan and implement regular system upgrades to enhance service continuity and user experience.

  • Installation, Upgradation, Administration, and monitoring of SQL Server Instances.

  • Maintain and monitor DB backups and database health and fix day-to-day DB-related issues.

  • Database access management.

  • Solve database performance issues such as Memory, CPU, and I/O bottlenecks. Using Redgate Monitor and Azure SQL Monitor tools.

  • Provide support to team members to minimize user/system downtime.

  • Work directly with other teams to prioritize and fix advanced issues.

  • Database migration from on-prem to Microsoft Azure Cloud.

  • Implement Organizational Data Security and Compliance policies.

  • Work with Developers to select and deploy appropriate Azure DevOps Continuous Integration (CI) and Continuous Deployment (CD) tools.

  • Advocating and building automated processes wherever possible.

For This Role, You Will Need:

  • Bachelor’s degree in computer science, Information Systems, or a related technical field, or equivalent experience.

  • DB Administration Certifications on MS Azure will be preferred.

  • Fluent in English, both written and verbal.

  • At least 5 years of Microsoft Database Administration experience is required.

  • Proven working experience as a Database Administrator

  • Hands-on experience with database standards and end-user applications

  • Excellent knowledge of data backup, recovery, security, integrity, and SQL

  • Familiarity with database design, documentation, and coding

  • Previous experience with DBA case tools (frontend/backend) and third-party tools

  • Familiarity with programming languages API

  • Problem-solving skills and ability to think algorithmically.

  • Experience with Azure data services such as Azure Data Factory and Azure Synapse Analytics.

  • Experience with Azure ADO (Azure DevOps).

Preferred Qualifications that Set You Apart:

  • Experience working in AGILE methodology.

  • Oracle SQL Developer
