Job Description Summary
The GE Aerospace Litigation and Investigations Team is looking for a mid-career Litigation Support Specialist to join our growing team. The successful candidate will be a key member of the team managing incoming claims and legal matters at a programmatic level, including process design and improvement. The role will require a skilled individual with judgment and readiness to assess issues and engage with external parties. This position will also provide the opportunity to analyze data, evaluate trends, and summarize information for discussions with senior leadership and internal reporting.
On an individual case level, this role will provide the opportunity to partner with other members of the Litigation and Investigation Team to work on ongoing matters. This will include gathering information across the organization, coordinating discovery productions and logs, drafting correspondence and engagement letters, proofreading memoranda and legal documents for attorneys, managing investigation and litigation budgets, coordinating legal holds, performing research and queries of state and federal dockets, and learning and coordinating FLIGHT DECK projects, GE Aerospace’s proprietary lean operating model. Job Description
Roles and Responsibilities
Serve as a program manager evaluating and administering incoming claims and legal process
Synthesize data and assess risk trends in conjunction with presentations for senior management
Administer key performance indicators in conjunction with Flight Deck operating model and process improvement projects
Conduct initial fact investigations into circumstances surround alleged incidents claimed by plaintiffs or insurance companies
Manage all aspects of case files for active litigation and investigations
Assist in managing outside legal expense, including invoice organization, budget analysis, and external vendor origination for payment.
Assist with discovery, including coordinating with internal/external parties, setting up databases, running searches, reviewing documents, redacting information, and preparing productions
Collect, organize, and transmit information to respond to external legal requests including civil discovery, third-party subpoenas, and law enforcement inquiries.
Research case law and local court rules, review state and federal case dockets, and perform targeted searches of open-source public information and records
Coordinate and participate in FLIGHT DECK projects and internal process improvement projects to streamline team efficiency
Utilize various firm technologies and resources to effectively support attorneys and clients
Draft and proofread legal correspondence and engagement letters
Prepare witness files and materials for deposition
Draft and manage legal holds
Prepare, create, and organize witness binders
Special projects and other duties, as assigned
Required Qualifications
Bachelor’s Degree and/or paralegal certification or equivalent experience
5+ years of experience in the legal industry with a law firm, a company, or in a governmental agency
*PLEASE NOTE THIS IS NOT A REMOTE POSITION, THIS ROLE REQUIRES TO BE ONSITE IN EVENDALE, OH, 3 DAYS PER WEEK MINIMUM.
Desired Skills;
Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook.
Ability to use sound judgment and discretion in dealing with highly confidential information.
Excellent interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills, including the ability to communicate effectively in a virtual environment (e.g., via phone, web/videoconference)
Ability to project manage and work under tight deadlines with competing and shifting priorities
Ability to build and maintain positive relationships, both internally and externally
