Job Title: Composite Mechanic
Job Description
Support the heavy maintenance and modification of 737 aircraft. As a Composite Mechanic, you will remove and reinstall structures as needed to access repair areas, and repair carbon fiber and fiberglass on fairings, flaps, slats, and flight controls. You will also taper-sand various materials to remove damage in challenging-to-access areas, read repair manuals and drawings to determine necessary materials, and apply heat blankets with appropriate thermocouple placement and bagging schedules. Additionally, you will operate a Heatcon hot-bond console.
Responsibilities
Support heavy maintenance and modification of 737 aircraft.
Remove and reinstall structures to access repair areas.
Repair carbon fiber and fiberglass on fairings, flaps, slats, and flight controls.
Taper-sand various materials to remove damage in challenging-to-access areas.
Read repair manuals and drawings to determine necessary materials and orientation of repair plies.
Apply heat blankets with appropriate thermocouple placement and bagging schedules.
Operate a Heatcon hot-bond console.
Essential Skills
4+ years of recent aircraft composite repair experience.
Experience with composite, fiberglass, and carbon fiber repairs.
Ability to read blueprints and repair manuals.
Skills in taper-sanding, using Heatcon hot-bond console, and performing composite structure repairs.
Knowledge of tools required for repairs.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
2+ years of recent aircraft composite repair experience in an MRO environment.
Airframe license preferred.
Experience with taper sanding, core plugs, and thermocouple placement.
Ability to diagnose and perform composite structure repairs.
Minimum hand tools required (basic wrenches, socket set, hi-lok plier).

Work Environment
You will work in a large MRO hangar setting with typical hours from Monday through Friday or Tuesday through Friday, with Saturday work possible. Shifts are 10 hours long, from 0530 – 1600 or 1530 – 0200, with extra shift/OT available (a typical week is 50 hours). The first week includes ATS and customer-specific training on the day shift, ranging from 24 to 40 hours.
