Job Title: Senior Credit & Collections ManagerJob Description
Manage and direct the daily activities of the credit, collections, and chargeback team. Perform periodic credit reviews and monitor risk for new and existing customer credit limits. Establish policies to set credit limits and payment terms, ensuring periodic reviews and follow-ups as appropriate. Liaison with the international credit manager/team to maintain a global view on shared customers and credit risk.
Responsibilities
Manage relations and reporting with collection agencies, credit reporting agencies, and actively participate in relevant credit groups.
Develop and implement new credit processes, both domestically and internationally.
Prepare monthly customer and credit risk analysis reports for the management team.
Prepare monthly chargeback analysis reports and lead efforts to reduce chargebacks.
Prepare weekly short-pay reports and work directly with the collection and chargeback team on reviews of these balances.
Perform analysis of accounts, records, and other accounting documents to aid in report preparation and analysis.
Monitor customer aging and perform follow-ups. Initiate collection of past due items, perform research, and provide follow-up action to resolve customer deductions.
Support internal and external audit activities.
Monitor customer bankruptcies, initiate claim documentation to file with the court, and follow up with appropriate action to minimize financial loss.
Coach and develop team members by building team skills through training, development programs, project assignments, and staffing for the department.
Maintain solid professional working relationships with other departments and external customers.
Support the team with special projects and workflow process improvements.
Essential Skills
10+ years of credit/collections/accounts receivable experience.
5+ years of supervisory or management experience.
Strong knowledge of laws and regulations concerning credit and collection issues, such as UCC filings, legal credit applications, and enforceable guarantees of payment.
Ability to read and analyze financial statements.
Excellent oral and written communication skills, with the ability to tailor communication to the audience.
Excellent project management skills.
Proficient in Microsoft Office Word, Excel, and Outlook.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
Experience managing credit in a consumer goods and retail environment.
Ability to identify potential customer credit risk factors and act appropriately.
Experience with importing and wholesale distribution, preferably of consumer goods.
Create an environment that encourages and rewards teamwork and collaboration, both internally and externally.
Ability to manage and develop people, set expectations, teach, track results, and manage accountability.
Bachelor’s degree in business, accounting, or a related field is strongly preferred.
Work Environment
The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit, use hands to finger, handle or feel, and talk or hear. The employee is frequently required to reach with hands and arms and occasionally stand and walk. The employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 10 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $60.00 - $63.00/hr.
