Hourly wage rate: $20-25/hr

The Opportunity

Responsible for working both independently and as a team member to assemble products according to specifications and drawings by using various hand tools.

The Team

This role will report to the Branch Manager.

Responsibilities

  • Follow all company policies and procedures

  • Report unsafe acts, unsafe conditions and incidents to the supervisor and safety coordinator (as required)

  • Complete applicable documentation

  • Basic understanding of the Safety Management System and ability to review, complete and sign off on forms and documents

  • Support continuous improvement initiatives

  • Demonstrate a positive attitude towards change and company vision

  • Be proactive in requirements regarding material, tool and inventory needs

  • Ensure quality checks of products are completed as required

  • Complete required PM’s and calibrations for their machines and tools

  • Report any quality concerns to lead hand

  • Complete job orders using Kanban cards and job orders properly (if applicable)

  • Assemble materials according to SOP’s, SWI’s and product specifications using engineering drawings

  • Operation of hand tools within the department

  • Review of finish parts to ensure accuracy against drawings

  • Testing (air or mechanical) of product to ensure functional capabilities

  • Propose potential quality or productivity enhancements i.e. continual improvements

  • Review of finished assemblies & parts to ensure accuracy against drawings & BOMs.

  • Report fabrication issues and assist in resolutions as required.

  • Operation of overhead crane and jib crane (if applicable)

  • Work in confined space and at heights requiring a fall arrest system (if applicable)

  • Cross train in Powder Coating and Blasting (if applicable)

  • Ensure training and retraining is completed for all tasks being completed Coordinate training of all department procedures by utilizing trained employees, hazard assessments, SWIs and SOPs

  • Any other duties as assigned by the supervisor.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED is preferred

  • Manufacturing experience is an asset

  • Familiarity with basic hand tools

  • Able to work safely

  • Able to work in fast paced environment handling heavy loads and standing for long periods of time

  • Possess attention to detail, problem solving, and communication skills

  • Able to read, understand and follow blueprints

  • Able to read and interpret a tape measure

  • Able to complete basic mathematics (addition, subtraction)

  • Able to read, write, and interpret English language

  • Great attention to detail

  • Basic computer skills

  • Ability to distinguish colours

  • Exemplary attendance record

  • Able to operate overhead crane, jib crane and forklift (if applicable)
