The Special Education Teacher Leader will report directly to the Director of Special Education and will serve as a key resource and support for schools and teachers. This role is vital in ensuring high-quality, inclusive instruction for all learners while promoting district values and commitments and fostering a collaborative professional environment.Key Responsibilities:Serve as a resource to schools and teachers in identifying, implementing, and monitoring appropriate instructional accommodations and modifications for students with diverse needs.Support staff in gathering and interpreting data to inform sound instructional decisions and improve student outcomes.Collaborate with teachers to develop and monitor differentiated curricular options and instructional approaches to meet the needs of all learners. Model effective teaching strategies and provide coaching and feedback through classroom observations of students, teachers, and lessons.Actively contribute to the district’s strategic plan by aligning special education practices with our vision and priorities.Co-Plan, facilitate, or participate in professional development opportunities to build capacity in special education best practices across the district.Required endorsement(s)Special education teacher certificate: Instructional Strategist 1 or Instructional Strategist 2 BD/ID.Successful special education teacher experience.Strong knowledge of special education best practices, and instructional strategies.Proven ability to work collaboratively with diverse stakeholders, including teachers, administrators, and external agencies.Knowledge of general and education curriculums as well as the MTSS process. Skilled in data analysis and applying results to improve instruction.Effective coaching and leadership abilities.This position has a 215 day contract.Teacher Leadership and Compensation Grant through Iowa Department of Education no longer requires the following: Minimum of three years of successful teaching experience in accordance with state evaluation processes. Minimum of one year of experience in the school district.
