Job Title:  Material Handling Team Lead

Location:  Farmington, CT

Department:  Manufacturing Operations

Reports To:  Material Warehouse Supervisor

Job Summary:  The Material Handling Team Lead at Allegion is instrumental in ensuring the seamless operation of our manufacturing processes. This dynamic role involves removing operational roadblocks, managing material flow, and fostering a culture of teamwork and high morale. The successful candidate will be proactive in problem-solving, adept at securing resources, and committed to maintaining the integrity of our inventory systems.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Proactively identify and resolve operational challenges to prevent production delays.

  • Cultivate a positive work environment and team spirit.

  • Liaise with various departments to secure necessary resources and support.

  • Provide hands-on assistance on the production line to maintain workflow, address staffing shortages, and provide training.

  • Establish and drive team objectives to meet departmental goals.

Material Handling and Inventory Management:

  • Ensure timely retrieval and replenishment of materials to designated cells and supermarkets.

  • Oversee the proper storage and delivery of materials to support continuous production.

  • Maintain accurate Kan Ban signals to manage material pull-through.

  • Conduct regular inventory cycle counts and report discrepancies to ensure inventory accuracy.

  • Uphold a safe and organized work environment, adhering to 5S standards and performing routine equipment checks.

Qualifications:

  • Solid understanding of the products and processes within the assigned area.

  • Demonstrated ability to foster a collaborative team atmosphere through personal work style and habits.

  • Adaptability, patience, sociability, and a balanced assertiveness.

  • Strong learning aptitude and in-depth knowledge relevant to the department.

  • Commitment to the department's objectives and overall company goals.

  • HS diploma or GED

Tools & Equipment:

  • Proficiency with power trucks, hand and electric trucks, carts, electronic scales, ladders, record files, gauges, hand tools, and computers.
