This facility operates five days a week with potential for overtime and produces Taco Shells, Tortilla Chips and Tortillas.
This position is responsible for ensuring all materials are transported and/or unloaded in a timely manner while maintaining a safe work environment and adhering to Tyson policies and procedures.
Experience: Must have 3 months accumulative forklift experience.
COMPLETED FORKLIFT LICENSE TRAINING REQUIRED AFTER HIRE
Summary
- Assists Receiving by assuring all packaging and ingredient trailers are unloaded in a safe and timely manner as well as maintaining proper rotation on ingredients and packaging by using the FIFO inventory method.
- Follows procedures and SOPs established in Shipping Manual.
- Unloads packaging materials and ingredients from trailers into appropriate storage bays neatly and without damage.
- Assures all safety measures are being performed before and during unloading of trailers.
- Accurately completes unloading reports for both packaging and ingredients to include the Incoming.
- Carrier Inspection reports (If applicable).
- Keeps production lines stocked with necessary materials. Keeps all areas clean and orderly.
- Must rotate packaging and ingredients by using the FIFO Inventory Method.
- Must be able to operate EIM system for loading and inventory movement of finished goods inventory.
- Pumps bulk ingredients when necessary.
- Submits all bulk ingredient samples to QA lab for approval. Coordinate flour unloading (designation of which silos to pump into) activities and silo switching with supervisor daily.
- Ensure all workstations are clean to include the silo pumping area, storage areas, and masa room. This includes wiping down walls, rails, and bays where applicable.
- Ensure that the pumping area and equipment are secured once bulk ingredient unloading is complete.
- Reports all damaged incoming product to the supervisor for disposition. Brush masa totes off.
- Hang masa totes as needed assuring the correct masa is hung for the correct line.
- Accurately fill out the masa dump logs.
- Clean and inspect outbound trailers.
- Record temperature of cold products assuring they are within specification - if out of spec, must notify supervisor immediately Load trucks with proper allocated products
- Complete all necessary paperwork for loading of outbound trucks. Must be yard tractor certified (if needed)
- Responsible for safe spotting of trailer movement for yard tractor driver.
- Must be able to work with minimal supervision.
- Perform work in a safe manner. Abide by all company policies / procedures, written or verbal.
- Work as a team member toward task accomplishments. Perform any other tasks as assigned by management.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities Required for the Position
- Requires flexibility of wrists and hands.
- Walking, bending, standing and regularly lifting up to (50 lbs.) and occasionally lifting (100 lbs.) required.
- Must be able to move heavy objects (up to 2000 lbs.) with lifting device.
- Vision abilities include distance vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.
- Be able to unload boxes of finished product by hand from pallets to a trailer within the following times: 2 minutes per pallet for boxes weighing up to 20 lbs. Mu t also be able to lift up to 20 lbs. overhead.
- Must be able to drive and operate a forklift.
- Must be able to move heavy equipment when operating the forklift (i.e. changing batteries)
- Communicate with quality control department, purchasing department, production and supervisors on a regular basis.
- Must be able to record applicable data into the various unloading reports, inventory sheets, and incoming carrier inspection reports.
- Possess basic PC skills to include reading / sending emails and the operation of hand-held scanners.
- Must be flexible and available to work extended hours and/or weekends when necessary.
- Must be able to perform essential functions of job with or without reasonable accommodation.
Personal Protective Equipment: Personal Protective Equipment: smock, hair net, ear plugs, safety glasses, and steel toed shoes. Will be exposed to wet and/or humid conditions, fumes or airborne particles and outside weather conditions. Will be occasionally exposed to high precarious places; extreme cold; extreme heat and vibration. Will be regularly exposed to moving mechanical parts. Noise level in the work environment is usually loud and requires hearing protection.
