Genesee County Road Commission (GCRC), Flint, Michigan is seeking a GIS Specialist under the supervision of the Director of Engineering. Develops GIS applications and map products; creates and develops maps, data sets, applications and other GIS related products; provides support for ongoing GIS projects. Assists County Highway Engineer on various engineering design analyses and project prioritization including the annual road preservation program for the Maintenance Department. Assists Maintenance Department with salt routes and drainage issues.

Candidates must have knowledge, ability, and skill in the principles and practices of excellent customer service. Maintain good interpersonal relationships, understand and follow complex oral and written directions, and maintain professional and technical knowledge.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

This position requires an Associate Degree directly related to geospatial technologies with a minimum of five (5) years of directly related experience in GIS development and support or Bachelor Degree directly related to geospatial technologies with a minimum of two (2) years of directly related experience in GIS development and support preferred. High level of expertise in drafting, surveying and inspection preferred and a valid Michigan Driver License is required.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS

Must possess: Performs mathematical computations and analysis with proficiency. Communicate effectively both orally and in writing. Direct employees and make decisions, identify solutions, present ideas, organize and work on multiple projects simultaneously. Establish and maintain effective working relationships with other departments, government agencies, private companies and the general public. Develop and maintain GIS datasets and applications. Use ESRI software, including: ArcGIS Desktop (ArcInfo, ArcEditor, ArcView, etc.) ArcGIS Server and ArcSDE.

Salary range, $62,400 - $71,760 with comprehensive benefit package including, but not limited to, Medical/Dental/Vision Insurance, Life Insurance, paid holidays and vacation, pension and deferred compensation.
