Job Summary: The Receiving Supervisor at our tech manufacturing facility is responsible for overseeing all aspects of the receiving department, including the accurate and efficient flow of materials into the facility. This role involves managing staff, optimizing processes to improve efficiency, and ensuring timely communication between departments. The schedule for this position is a Thursday-Sunday rotating continental shift, from 11 AM to 11 PM, with Thursday serving as the swing day. Training will take place on a standard Monday-Friday 8-hour shift until the transition to the rotating shift after training. The ideal candidate will possess strong leadership, organizational, and problem-solving skills and will be adept at managing third-party logistics (3PL) partners and internal team relationships.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Leadership and Management:
Recruitment & Retention: Lead the hiring process for the receiving team and develop strategies to retain talent within the department.
Team Development: Provide ongoing training and development opportunities for receiving staff to enhance skills and promote growth.
Performance Management: Monitor employee performance, provide regular feedback, and conduct performance evaluations to ensure optimal productivity.
Work Culture: Foster a positive, collaborative work environment, promoting Jabils core values and work culture.
Policy Enforcement: Enforce company policies and ensure adherence to safety, health, and conduct regulations.
Cross-Department Communication: Ensure continuous communication between receiving, inventory control, quality departments, and other internal teams to support overall operations.
Technical Management:
Department Performance: Monitor department efficiency, identify improvement opportunities, and implement new or revised procedures as necessary.
Process Optimization: Aim to eliminate inspection bottlenecks and increase the percentage of dock-to-stock materials while minimizing processing time for all received goods.
Inventory & Stock Accuracy: Ensure accurate record-keeping and stock levels, and verify that all materials are promptly and accurately stocked.
Operational Support: Ensure that all tools, equipment, and visual aids required for department tasks are maintained in proper working order.
Interdepartmental Collaboration: Work closely with engineering, quality control, and program management teams to resolve issues related to equipment, schedules, or personnel.
3PL Performance: Track and manage the performance of third-party logistics (3PL) partners to ensure they meet company requirements and service expectations.
Error Reduction: Identify and implement strategies to eliminate errors that impact departmental efficiency and budget adherence.
Resource Management: Recommend necessary adjustments in capital equipment and human resources to maintain optimum operations.
Compliance & Safety: Adhere to safety protocols, health regulations, and the company's security policies to ensure a compliant work environment.
Job Qualifications:
Education: A bachelor's degree is preferred. A combination of relevant education, training, and at least five years of experience in a supervisory role may also be considered.
Experience: Minimum of five years of experience in a supervisory role within a logistics, inventory, or receiving function, preferably in a tech manufacturing environment.
Knowledge Requirements:
Technical Proficiency: Advanced knowledge of Jabils software systems and the ability to train staff on their use. Proficient in Microsoft Office products (Excel, Word, PowerPoint).
Problem-Solving: Ability to address and resolve issues using logical reasoning and problem-solving skills when standardized solutions are unavailable.
Mathematical Aptitude: Ability to perform complex calculations, including discounts, percentages, and volume, and to apply basic algebra and geometry in practical situations.
Communication Skills: Strong ability to present information to senior management, communicate effectively with team members, and respond to inquiries from customers or regulatory agencies.
Global Logistics Knowledge: Strong understanding of global and regional logistics operations, customs regimes, and tax structures. Ability to develop logistics strategies to meet company objectives.
Financial Acumen: Ability to interpret business analytics and financial reports to drive performance improvements and meet budget targets.
