U.S. Army Medical Command Safety and Occupational Health Manager in Fort Belvoir, Virginia

Summary This is a Direct Hire Authority (DHA) solicitation utilizing the DHA for Certain Personnel of the DoD Workforce to recruit and appoint qualified candidates to positions in the competitive service. About the Position: Serves as the Safety and Occupational Health Program Manager for a Medical Readiness Command (MRC). Plans, implements, administers, inspects and evaluates the safety and occupational health program for all medical treatment facilities (MTFs) within the MRC. Responsibilities Provides occupational safety oversight of MTF operations throughout the Medical Readiness Command (MRC). Independently schedules and conducts surveys/inspections/assessments/staff assistance visits of Military Treatment Facility (MTF) operations. Identifies and evaluates risk potential involving a wide variety of work environments and occupations throughout the MRC. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community; student; social). You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience. Your resume must clearly describe your relevant experience; if qualifying based on education, your transcripts will be required as part of your application. Specialized Experience: One year of specialized experience which includes Applying safety and occupational health regulations and procedures to advise on or resolve technical matters dealing with occupational safety and health requirements; Inspecting or surveying workplaces or processes for compliance with established safety and occupational health policies or standards and to identify potential new hazards; AND Training of staff or other safety and occupational health personnel in safety or occupational health subjects. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-11). Some federal jobs allow you to substitute your education for the required experience in order to qualify. For this job, you must meet the qualification requirement using experience alone--no substitution of education for experience is permitted. Education Additional Information Male applicants born after December 31, 1959, must complete a Pre-Employment Certification Statement for Selective Service Registration. You will be required to provide proof of U.S. Citizenship. One year trial/probationary period may be required. Direct Deposit of Pay is required. Selection is subject to restrictions resulting from Department of Defense referral system for displaced employees.
