Description of Work Unit

The Department of Soil and Crop Sciences is focused on education, research, and outreach to solve the world’s most pressing food production issues and crucial matters about Earth, its ecosystems, and their services. Our faculty and staff apply research-based solutions to benefit Colorado and the world. We offer academic programs to prepare students to address national and global crop production, sustainability, and environmental quality challenges such as waste management, water quality, and reclamation of drastically disturbed lands. There are numerous opportunities for individuals to be involved in cutting edge research related to global food production and ecosystem function and protection.

Position Summary

We are seeking a motivated and versatile individual to join our team as a Lab Assistant for a large-scale research project. This non-student hourly position is integral to maintaining the efficiency and progress of our lab operations. The ideal candidate will be a jack-of-all-trades and should enjoy work that involves a variety of activities that shift with project needs, including providing support across various processes in the lab to ensure seamless workflow. Responsibilities include assisting with soil processing (including soil sieving), supporting higher-level laboratory analyses, sample inventory, and filling in where needed to maintain productivity. This role is perfect for someone who thrives in dynamic environments, enjoys problem-solving, is detail oriented and organized, and has a keen interest in research support. Position Minimum Qualifications

At least two years of college education. Prior experience in a laboratory setting is ideal, especially in a soil-science relevant field (though not wholly necessary). Demonstrated experience in dynamic work environments.
