Action Facilities Management, Inc General Maintenance Worker in Fort Hood, Texas
The General Maintenance Worker provides general labor, grounds maintenance, and general carpentry support. Provides modular building and infrastructure support as required. Assists in ensuring safety and compliance with OSHA, environmental and other regulatory requirements. Knowledgeable in the procedures and safety measures in area(s) of specialty. Has knowledge of commonly-used concepts, practices, and procedures within a particular field. Relies on instructions and pre-established guidelines to perform the functions of the job.
Shift:
7:30am - 4:30pm
Essential Job Functions:
- Perform maintenance service and repairs in the areas of plumbing, carpentry, painting, plastering, machine servicing, electrical, or vehicle servicing
- Perform general manual labor tasks including grounds maintenance, loading, unloading, lifting, and moving materials
- Perform general maintenance and repair of equipment and buildings requiring practical skill and knowledge in such trades as painting, carpentry, plumbing, masonry, and electrical work.
- Work involves a variety of the following duties: replacing electrical receptacles, wires, switches, fixtures, and motors, using plaster or compound to patch minor holes and cracks in walls and ceilings, repairing or replacing sinks, water coolers, and toilets painting structures and equipment; repairing or replacing concrete floors, steps, and sidewalks, replacing damaged paneling and floor tiles, hanging doors and installing door locks, replacing broken window panes, and performing general maintenance on equipment and machinery
- Repair, rebuild, and remove structures within the CTSF complex and Install Yard to support mission requirements
- Construct interior walls, set-up or rearrange furniture, as necessary to optimize CTSF operations
- Support programs set-up, or providing installation of temporary antennas for customers who have that requirement
- Reconstruct decks
- Install wall fixtures (projectors, screens, white boards, pictures) to support mission requirements
- Replace, adjust, repair doors (to include knobs) when necessary
- Perform pressure washing, painting, and staining exterior and interior surfaces, as required
- Repair or replace ceiling tiles; provide floor maintenance (floor tiles, subfloors)
- Maintain gates to ensure proper operation
- Maintain and sustain training on the proper usage of power tools and carpentry equipment
- Clean and prepare the site, remove debris and trash
- Load, unload, and deliver materials and equipment
- Conduct carpenter, painter, masonry, and other required duties
- Use and maintain a variety of tools and machines
- Set up and take down ladders, scaffolding, and other temporary structures
- Assist electrician, plumber, and generator mechanic as required
- Mow, trim, and edge lawn within 1 feet of outer perimeter of CTSF complex
- Provide erosion control, fertilization, weed control procedures to optimize lawn condition
- Perform daily walk-throughs to police the area of debris, trash, and branches
- Perform safety checks throughout the facilities. Make on the spot corrections or call in work orders as appropriate
- Advise Maintenance Team Lead of observations that require the attention of other facility services
- Support Quality Assurance Audits

Required Skills, Expereince, and Education:
- 1-2 years of experience in a field such as HVAC, Electrical, Plumbing or as a maintenance mechanic
- Current and Active Secret Clearance
- Strong organizational skills with the ability to multi-task
- Ability to deal with problems involving few concrete variables in standardized situations
- Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions
- Clean driving record
- Proficiency in using Microsoft Word, Excel, and e-mail applications
- Strong communication skills (written and verbal) and able to communi ate effectively in English
- Ability to effectively utilize available resources to maximize productivity
- Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute ratio, rate, and percent
- Able to interpret miscellaneous drawings and schematics
- High School Diploma or Equivalent
Additional certifications or education in a maintenance trade, preferred *
Equipment Used:Hand tools related to preventive maintenance of equipment and systems. Office equipment such as computers, printers, phone systems, fax machines ,etc.
