Summary THIS IS A NATIONAL GUARD TITLE 32 EXCEPTED SERVICE POSITION. This position is for an Electronics Mechanic, Position Description Number D1205000 located at CSMS South, Fort Stewart, Georgia. This is a full-time, Excepted Permanent, dual status position which requires Georgia Army National Guard Membership. Area of Consideration: Open to current members of the Georgia Army National Guard. Responsibilities As a Electronics Mechanic, WG-2604-11, you will: Perform functional tests, analyze performance and malfunctions, remove, install, test, maintain, modify, perform alignments and troubleshoot the electronic, electrical, mechanical and hydraulic assemblies, modules, and interconnecting cables of a variety of combat and tactical equipment to include the M1 series main battle tank, M2/3 series Bradley fighting vehicle, Multiple Launch Rocket System (MLRS), TOW Missile System and the ATACMS Launch Loader Module (LLM). Utilize Integrated Family Test Equipment (IFTE), Built In Test Equipment (BITE) and break out boxes (BOB) for fault isolation, verification, or adjustment of assemblies and modules. Repair or replace chassis mounted components on Unit Under Test (UUT). Performs Automatic Test Equipment (ATE) operations for fault isolation on LLM electronic modules, circuit cards, and assemblies to component level. Replace faulty components on UUT printed circuit boards and power distribution systems. Utilize oscilloscopes, signal generators, digital multi-meters, and other test equipment to locate, diagnose, and repair malfunctions. Troubleshoot and repair launch pod/container (LP/C), trainer rocket simulator modules, Missiles/Launchers Pod Assembly (M/LPA), trainer missile simulator modules, and various like items. Troubleshoot carrier electrical and power distributions systems as an integrated subsystem of the weapon system or equipment being repaired. Isolates faulty assemblies, cables, wiring harnesses and modules to component level for repair or replacement. Insure proper integration of information between carrier, Fire Control System (FCS), vehicle and equipment hydraulic and mechanical systems, secure digital communications system, and intercommunications system. Install equipment modifications to system per technical work orders. Perform initial and final checks and may perform inspections when required of designated systems. May act as quality assurance/control inspector for other mechanics' work. Determine deficiencies in troubleshooting procedures for the equipment being repaired and makes recommendations for corrective action to technical manuals. Perform field and limited sustainment maintenance to include installation, routine maintenance, repair, and overhaul of fixed and mobile operational communication and electronics systems, e.g., shelter mounted AM radio and teletype systems, shelter mounted single side band radio and teletype systems, shelter mounted radio relay and terminal systems, complex radar systems, interrogators, gun, rocket, and missile fire control, directional and digital computer systems, peripheral equipment, and related test equipment, and Modification Table Of Equipment (MTOE) authorized automation equipment. Repair, align, and adjust missile guidance control systems, infrared night vision sights, optical sights, and traversing units. Remove and replace defective electrical, electronic, and mechanical components. Conduct inspections, diagnose nature and extent of equipment malfunction. Determine whether equipment may be economically repaired or declared unserviceable, and performs required maintenance to restore to a serviceable condition various types of tactical computers, radio sets, and similar items. Repair or salvage defective components. Isolate and diagnose cause of circuit/component malfunction using signal string lists, schematics, standard, special, and electronic Test Measurement and Diagnostic Equipment (TMDE) or repair equipment. Use associated field maintenance equipment in analytical maintenance procedures. Interpret complex schematic diagrams. Must exercise a high degree of judgment regarding methods and procedures for completing assignments, which may involve extending the use of conventional tools and equipment and improving changes to techniques, and procedures to reach specified parameters when factors such as temperature extremes, aging of equipment, or modification of circuits have changed operating conditions. Install and apply equipment modifications when directed. Use various types of test equipment to include systems test sets and stands such as AN/GRM-122s, frequency meters, standing wave indicators, oscillators, ohmmeters, voltmeters, resistance bridges, and signal generators to localize trouble by component unit, by circuit within a component, and by element of a circuit. Use special and common hand tools, power tools, and gauges to make intricate repairs. Fabricate items and parts for repair of mechanical and electronic equipment. May conduct or be involved in a Maintenance Assistance and Instruction Team (MAIT) or act as an inspector on a Command Maintenance Evaluation Team (COMET) on electronic, automation, communication, and equipment. Provide technical assistance and instruction to units throughout the state so that they will be able to operate at the desired level of proficiency. Perform other duties as assigned. Specialized Experience: Candidate must have 18 months specialized experience in utilizing principles, basic functions and application of theory of electronic systems or equipment. Experience in diagnosing problems and determining needed repairs for malfunctions in electronic equipment or systems. Experience in making mechanical repairs that required the use of precision measuring and calibrating equipment. Experience in using complex test equipment such as deviation meters, complex special test panels, etc. Experience which demonstrates the ability to interpret technical manuals, specifications, and publications. PHYSICAL EFFORT: Work is performed in tiring or uncomfortable positions for long periods. There is frequent standing, bending, reaching, stretching, climbing, and crouching; or working on top of, under, and in tight compartments or cramped or awkward positions. Performs strenuous work while standing, lying, or sitting. Frequently lifts and carries items, unassisted, weighing up to 40 pounds; and often exerts similar effort in pushing, pulling, and positioning parts, assemblies, and equipment. Frequently lifts and moves heavier items with the assistance of other workers or with lifting devices such as jacks, hoists, and cranes. May be required to work from ladders or work platforms at varying heights. WORKING CONDITIONS: Work is performed both inside and outside. When inside, the incumbent is frequently exposed to drafts, changing temperatures, and noise which is difficult to talk above. When outside, the incumbent is exposed to bad weather, in mud or snow, and in wet or icy areas. The incumbent is frequently exposed to irritations or discomfort from dust, heat, fumes, and hard damp floors or ground. Typically works on parts and systems, which are dirty, oily, or greasy. Frequently exposed to the possibility of cuts, burns, bruises, and sprains while repairing, positioning, and moving equipment. Often exposed to the possibility of falls while repairing, positioning, and moving equipment; and skin irritations from acid, fluids, and lubricants. Uses safety equipment such as protective ear devices, hard hats, hard-toe shoes, respirators, and protective clothing, which may be uncomfortable to wear or use and may be worn or used for long periods.
