Element Materials Technology Laboratory Analyst (PFAS) in Fort Wayne, Indiana
Overview
Element has an upcoming opportunity for a Laboratory Analyst (PFAS) to join our growing team in Fort Wayne, IN. The Laboratory Analyst (PFAS) prepares and analyzes Environmental samples using standard analytical techniques according to approved scientific and EPA methodology in compliance with Element Materials Technology Testing Quality Assurance programs and standard operating procedures (SOPs).This position can be physical job that may require standing for long periods, working with organic solvents, laboratory glassware and specialized equipment.
The ideal candidate will have experience in HPLC, LC-MS/MS, LC-MS, GC-MS, and Wet Chemistry.
Responsibilities
Preparation of samples using standard techniques
Performing chemical analysis using standard techniques
Prioritizing work assignments to ensure that extraction and analysis hold times are met
Analyze drinking water and complex environmental sample extracts for organic semi-volatile compounds including but not limited to pesticides, PCBs, SVOCs, SOCs, & PFAS by GC/ECD, GC/MS, HPLC, & LC/MS/MS
Review raw data for accuracy and interferences as well as proper integration
Review chromatograms and mass spectra for proper identification in complicated matrices
Prepare and analyze duplicates and dilutions as needed
Recording and reporting data and any unusual test occurrences to the supervisor
Performing routine instrument maintenance and repair
Competency on complex instrumentation instrument specific software (training is provided)
Responsible for keeping personal training documentation (training records, IDOC/DOC) current and accurate.
Responsible for timely completion of assigned/scheduled QC samples (MDL, LOD/LOQ, PT)
Works under close supervision using routine and standard methods
Responsible for general housekeeping in work area
Proficient, with IDOCs, for a minimum for 50% of methods carried out in the department
Responsible for performing job functions in compliance with ELEMENT MATERIALS TECHNOLOGY environmental, health and safety and quality assurance standards

Skills / Qualifications
BS or BA in chemistry or related field. 3-5 years analytical chemistry experience may substitute for degree
EPA method 1633A, 533, and/or 537.1 Rev 2.0 experience is REQUIRED
Experience with LIMS data entry
Proficiency in calibration standard and QC sample preparation and analysis
Demonstrate excellent time management and organizational skills
Experience scheduling work to ensure that sample holding times are not exceeded and that customer service goals for turnaround time are achieved
Team participation and meeting management skills
Demonstrate good problem-solving skills
Work independently following written and verbal instructions
Cooperate and coordinate both orally and in writing
Reading, writing and speaking skills
