We are developing the future of Army Aviation with the Bell Future Long-Range Assault Aircraft (FLRAA) part of the US Army’s Future Vertical Lift (FVL) modernization effort. We are also developing the Bell 525 Relentless and Bell's High-Speed Vertical Take-Off and Landing (HSVTOL) program, a next generation aircraft.

FLRAA Avionics IPT Overview

The Bell Future Long Range Assault Aircraft (FLRAA) Program has an opportunity for an Avionics IPT Manager leading multiple FLRAA avionic subsystem design and integration activities.

This position reports to the FLRAA Senior Manager, Electrical and Avionics and is located at Bell’s headquarters in Ft. Worth, Texas.

The Avionics IPT is responsible for developing and integrating multiple Bell and supplier developed avionics systems and vehicle systems, including the health management system, vehicle system sensors, and flight data recorder.

The team performs system and software integration, requirements management, system safety assessment, verification testing in systems integration labs, airworthiness qualification, and flight test of these systems.

The Avionics IPT is also responsible for human factors which develops the pilot / vehicle interface and supports development of all subsystems.

What you’ll be doing as the FLRAA Avionics IPT Manager:

  • Manage and coach Avionics System engineers and Human Factors engineers to ensure an engaged and skilled team

  • Driving execution of avionics systems design, analysis, qualification and integration

  • Leading Avionics IPT through all phases of development from initial proposal development through successful design, qualification, integration testing, flight test, and production

  • Responsible for the technical performance, cost, and schedule for the avionics systems. Manage Integrated Master Schedule and track cost and schedule performance. Identify and manage Risks.

  • Manage design and integration activities, coordinate project deliverables and schedules, and report status to program management.

  • Manage team MBSE efforts to develop requirements and system design within the Cameo model

  • Coordination with Avionics tech leads, systems engineering, supply chain, finance, build, test teams, and the government customer to execute program objectives

  • Managing suppliers and subcontracts including scoping (Statement of Work), RFPs, negotiations and schedules

  • Identify staffing requirements and build an effective team

Qualifications

Skills You Bring To this Role :

  • Experience with avionics development, integration, laboratory testing, and aircraft testing

  • Familiarity with RTCA DO-160, MIL-STD-810, MIL-STD-461, RTCA DO-178, RTCA DO-254, SAE ARP4754A, SAE ARP4761, and multiple data protocols such as 1553, AFDX/664 and A429

  • Creation of system architecture, requirements specifications, interface definitions, and verification plans and procedures

  • Aircraft installation design, functional testing, and troubleshooting electrical or avionics or other vehicle systems

  • System engineering and configuration management processes.

  • Model Based Systems Engineering experience preferred – SysML / CAMEO

  • Experience with supplier management

What you need to be successful:

  • We are looking for inquisitive and driven engineers with a passion to innovate

  • Bachelor’s degree required, major in Electrical, Computer or Aerospace Engineering, Advanced degrees will be considered as additional experience

  • At least 10 years of relevant experience in aerospace industry is required

  • Previous formal leadership experience

  • Experience with project management(EVMS is preferred)

  • Ability to gain a US Secret Security Clearance is preferred
