POSITION SUMMARY
The Business Unit Controller will maximize return on financial assets and mitigate financial and regulatory risk by establishing and maintaining robust financial policies, procedures, controls, and reporting systems for the APTP business unit (2 US sites and 1 international site). Ensure company accounting procedures conform to U.S. generally accepted accounting principles (U.S. GAAP), Amphenol Policy and Procedures, and all financial reporting is completed on an accurate and timely basis. Serves as a contributing member of the Senior Leadership Team and participate in the decision-making process concerning the direction and future growth of the company.
QUALIFICATIONS
Education/Experience/Background:
- Bachelor of Science in accounting or business administration, CPA or MBA Preferred
- Minimum of 15 years of experience in a progressively responsible financial and management accounting position.
- Minimum of 5 years of experience as a Controller in a manufacturing company.
- Extensive knowledge of business and finance principles and practices.
- Must be a U.S. Citizen with the ability to obtain a U.S. Government Security Clearance. Travel up to 25% of the time within the U.S and internationally.
Skills:
Knowledge of U.S. DoD contract cost and pricing and FAR cost accounting standards.
Strong experience managing accounting functions, such as financial reporting, accounts payable, accounts receivable, general ledger, and IRS Revenue Recognition Compliance.
Strong supervisory skills.
Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
Ability to adapt within a dynamic business environment, demonstrating agility and proactive problem-solving skills.
Ability to organize and prioritize workload and meet deadlines.
Ability to work additional hours as necessary.
Advanced computer skills in Microsoft Office Applications, specifically Excel.
Experience with IFS and Made to Manage (M2M) strongly preferred.
ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES and RESPONSIBILITIES
Establish, recommend, and advise the business General Manager on major economic objectives, trends and policies for the global business unit.
Prepare and present comprehensive reports summarizing and forecasting business activity and financial position, incorporating past, present, and expected trends in income, expenses, and earnings.
Lead the development and execution of detailed budgets and strategic forecasts to guide operational and financial performance.
Direct the determination of depreciation rates for capital assets, ensuring optimal asset utilization and accurate financial reporting.
Oversee and evaluate effectiveness of internal control procedures that support internal and external audits of company accounts, safeguarding financial integrity and ensuring compliance with regulations.
Prepare and submit reports required by regulatory agencies, adhering to all reporting deadlines and requirements.
Actively participate in monthly financial reviews, contributing financial expertise and insight into organizational planning and performance.
Build financial business cases that support ROI and payback of capital equipment invest ents that are in line with the strategic plan and budget.
Ensure that IT strategies are aligned with the companys overall business objectives and growth plans.
Establish and maintain robust accounting policies, systems, procedures, and special financial studies to optimize reporting, control, and decision-making.
Manage the monthly accounting close process efficiently and effectively, producing accurate and timely financial results for the business unit.
Analyze PandL statements and Balance Sheets for all sites, identifying key trends, variances, and potential areas for improvement.
Ensure the integrity of the company's inventory through effective controls and analysis, optimizing inventory levels and minimizing COGS (cost of goods sold) in accordance with US GAAP.
Manage key performance indicators (KPIs) across the business unit, utilizing data-driven insights to support cost reduction, improve profitability, and inform strategic decisions.
Develop and oversee the forecasting and budgeting process for PandL (including direct material, labor, and overhead costs) and Balance Sheet (including fixed assets, inventory, and accounts receivable).
Analyze and manage the production costs of the business unit, identifying and implementing cost-saving initiatives to enhance operational efficiency.
Manage and control fixed assets and accounts receivable, ensuring optimal asset utilization, efficient collection processes, and healthy cash flow.
