Job Summary
The Security Operations Supervisor supports the Director of Security Services in the proper and efficient operation of the department's assigned duties. Preparation of staff research and reports; and the coordination and management of programs and projects for his/her staff. Responds to emergency situations, critical incidents, deadly force situations, call for service and other requests for assistance.
This position is an armed uniformed, shift role and will act as the final security authority for implementation of department policies, such as arrest decisions.
Essential Functions
Accountable to the Security Services Director for the actions and events that occurred during the supervisor's shift. Responsible for keeping a daily log of significant event and regularly updating the senior department leaders. Performs other duties as assigned
Mentors’ officers and is responsible for leading a shift of officers as they perform security services. Maintains a high-level of situational awareness for organizational security threats. The Security Operations Supervisor performs vigilant follow-up to all known security threats. Responsible to make sure that the physical building is secure when appropriate
Assures that all officers are equipped with all required equipment. Responsible for daily/nightly activity assignments such as ILSM, vehicle and officer professional appearance standards, vehicle safety inspections, officer assignments, participates in fire drills, inspections, and other assigned duties
Responsible to be knowledgeable of which crimes under PA 330 are immediately reportable to the local police authority. The Security Operations Supervisor will assure that the incident is not only reported to the local police jurisdiction but to senior leaders of the department in a timely manner
Engages in continuous study of the entire professional field, including best practices, to maintain the professional competence, knowledge, and skills necessary for the satisfactory performance of all assigned responsibilities. Suggests policy, performs follow-up, assists with investigation of crimes and communicates with the Director, Security Services, as needed
Must obtain and maintain a Concealed Pistol License (CPL) and successfully complete advanced firearms training within 6 months. Maintain annual firearms qualifications standards as determine by department policy
Completes performance appraisals within the time period established by the organization. Monitors security police employee performance and takes action when appropriate
Coordinates requests for service, information, records, and data in the area of responsibility. The Security Operations Supervisor assists with investigations, consultations, and training activities for department customers. Establishes and maintains effective working relationships within the organization. Interacts with clinical staff, patients, family members, and visitors and assures that communication is effective
Qualifications
Required
Associate's Degree or equivalent
LIC-Driver's License - STATE_MI State of Michigan Upon Hire
LIC-MI Commission on Law Enforcement (MCOLES) - STATE_MI State of Michigan 180 Days
CRT-IAHSS Basic - IAHSS International Association for Healthcare Security and Safety 90 Days
CRT-Basic Life Support (BLS) - AHA American Heart Association 180 Days or
CRT-Basic Life Support (BLS) - ARC American Red Cross 180 Days
CRT-First Aid - AHA American Heart Association 180 Days
Preferred
Bachelor's Degree or equivalent
7 years of relevant experience law enforcement experience
5 years of relevant experience Corewell Health Security Police Officer experience
