Job Description:

The University Writing Program is seeking a part-time Receptionist. This position will provide front desk support to both the University Writing Program and the Writing Studio. The receptionist is assigned to the front desk, performing daily office operational duties such as answering and directing phone calls and serving as the receptionist for the Writing Studio. These tasks include scheduling student appointments, troubleshooting problems within the TutorTrac system, and assisting in coordinating tutors. Duties and responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Acts as UWP receptionist, answers all incoming calls, receives deliveries, and assignments dropped for teaching assistants. Makes copies, scans, and send faxes, along with maintaining paper supplies and toner for the copier. Digitizes documents as needed. Straightens and maintains common areas throughout the day. Maintains room reservation calendar for the conference room. Helps create promotional material. Acts as a courier for all deliveries/pick-ups. Assists visitors to the UWP. File documents according to the UWP filing system. Checks and maintains an inventory of UWP supplies.

  • Provides support for the Writing Studio, answering calls and scheduling and canceling appointments using Tutortrac (or other tutor appointment system). Coordinates appointments to ensure tutors meet with scheduled students. Prints Writing Studio materials as needed. Coordinates and troubleshoots with Writing Studio director.

  • Other duties as assigned by Office Manager and Academic Assistant

Expected Salary:

The hourly rate is $15 per hour

Work Schedule

For Federal Work Study-eligible students, two 4-hour shifts and one 2-hour shift for a total of10 hoursa week is preferred.

For non-Federal Work Study-eligible students, two 2-hour shifts and one 1-hour shift for a total of 5 hours a week.

Minimum Requirements:

Expertise with MS Word, Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint

Preferred Qualifications:

A high school diploma and two years of appropriate experience. Appropriate college coursework or vocational/technical training may substitute at an equivalent rate for the required experience.

Experience with MyUFL modules, Tutortrac scheduling program. Successful completion of the required FERPA training. Excellent written and oral communication skills.

This position is open to all students who are eligible to work on campus and will be employed through student Other Personnel Services (OPS) and must maintain a minimum 3.0 grade point average. Registered students are employed on a part-time basis, up to 10 hours per week.
