SIMEDHealth Radiology Assistant in Gainesville, Florida

SIMEDHealth is currently seeking a Full Time Radiology Assistant for our Gainesville, FL diagnostics location. The Radiology Assistant (RA) performs a wide variety of routine duties including clerical, technical and patient related functions under the direction of a licensed radiology technologist or Physician. The RA is responsible for assisting members of the patient care team and providing a broad range of health care related services such as: preparation for the patient’s visit, reviewing imaging orders, patient education, assisting the radiology technologist with procedures, and other patient assistance. The RA will be responsible for preparing modality tech sheets for multiple modalities. The RA is trained to use a variety of radiographic equipment for patient set-up, computers, and software. The RA may be assigned to work in a variety of imaging sections, assist multiple radiology modalities and /or clinical services per operational needs

Qualified candidates will possess the following minimally:

  • High school diploma or equivalency REQUIRED. 

  • Proficiency in utilizing a computer REQUIRED.

  • Current CPR/BLS REQUIRED (within 60 days of hire)

  • Medical Terminology REQUIRED

  • Must be able to lift 30lbs

  • Intergy or similar EMR software experience preferred.

  • 2 years experience in medical office or clinical setting REQUIRED.

  • Must be able to communicate effectively and have good organizational skills.

The following are duties which may be required of you as a Radiology Assistant (RA):

Patient Care - competent in assisting with imaging studies, assists with diagnostic studies, performs clerical duties including patient information on study tech sheets, and maintains high quality services.

  • Set up the imaging room to coincide with the study being performed.

  • Verifies two patient identifiers.

  • Provide quality customer service, explains all studies to the patient in a clear manner, and provide information and resources to patient and family.

  • Assists with safe transfer of patient to and from wheelchair.

  • Positions the patient, ensuring patient comfort and modesty.

  • Help maintain clean, orderly, well-stocked supplies in exam rooms and dressing rooms.

Communication - Communicates effectively with patients/families and all care providers in a professional and ethical manner. Interacts with staff and co-workers in a manner that promotes positive working relationships.

  • Checks imaging orders for complete information and appropriateness criteria.

  • Is proficient in HIPAA and Medical Records Rights to Access policies and procedures and adheres to them; always maintains patient confidentiality.

  • Demonstrates organizational skills.

  • Compiles, processes, understands and is knowledgeable of required patient forms (CT/MR IV Contrast Consent, MRI Safety questionnaire, MRI jewelry consent)

  • In EMR, can:

  • View patient data, verify name/DOB/study and history for study.

  • View/search, utilize and understand appropriate diagnosis codes.

  • Document notes, conversations, etc., appropriately

  • Schedule or reschedule appointments & procedures.

  • Navigate throughout EMR effectively to verify exact orders.
