Description We are offering an exciting opportunity for a Sr. Accountant, based in Galveston, Texas. The primary function of this role is to manage the financial operations of our non-profit organization, ensuring its financial health and transparency. The successful candidate will play a key role in leading the month-end close process, performing account reconciliations, supporting annual audits, and handling various special projects.

Responsibilities:

• Leading the month-end closing process, including preparing and reviewing journal entries, accruals, and financial statements to ensure accurate and timely reporting.

• Performing and reviewing balance sheet reconciliations, ensuring all accounts are reconciled and discrepancies are resolved promptly.

• Coordinating and preparing for annual audits, including gathering necessary documentation and working closely with external auditors.

• Assisting with special projects as needed, including financial analysis, process improvements, and system implementations.

• Ensuring compliance with GAAP, internal policies, and any regulatory requirements.

• Utilizing ERP systems to manage financial data, generate reports, and improve efficiency in accounting processes. Assisting in system upgrades and optimizations.

• Working closely with other departments to support financial decision-making and ensure alignment with organizational goals.

• Processing customer credit applications accurately and efficiently.

• Maintaining accurate customer credit records.

• Monitoring customer accounts and taking appropriate action. Requirements • Must hold a minimum of 3 years of experience in a similar role as a Sr. Accountant

• Proficiency in Account Reconciliation, Balance Sheet Reconciliation and Bank Reconciliations

• Demonstrated experience with General Ledger management and Journal Entries

• Proficient in Microsoft Excel

• Experience with Month End Close and Month-end Close Activities

• Ability to prepare Financial Statements

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting or a related field is preferred

• Excellent written and verbal communication skills

• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills

• Must have strong attention to detail and organizational skills

• Ability to work independently and as part of a team

• Must have the ability to meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment

• Proven knowledge of financial analysis and interpretation of financial data

• Certified Public Accountant (CPA) certification is a plus.
