Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

This position is responsible for the following: Other duties may be assigned.

1. Be able to assist welders in all areas of fabrication and installation of required material.
2. Have basic welding skills and knowledge.
3. Have basic knowledge comprehend to utilize blueprints, sketches, drawings and work process instruction.

Required Education and Experience:

1. High School Diploma, some college or technical school certification
2. Six months to one year(s) experience or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Working Conditions:

1. Some climbing (100 feet) and lifting (50 lbs.) involved.
2. Traverse gangways and scaffolding at varying heights while wearing fall prevention equipment.
3. Working with hot and sometimes hazardous materials.
4. Aboard ships, both on and offshore as well as confined spaces.
5. Must be able to stand and operate equipment up to four continuous hours.
6. The work requires long periods of sitting in awkward positions, standing on a variety of surfaces and at differing angles, bending over, crouching and climbing up and over obstructions such as scaffolding, ladders, and internal barge and boat structural members.

Necessary Equipment Operation:

1. Blow torches - Motorized cutting torches, Pattern cutting torches; Welding torches.

2. Welding or brazing or cutting apparatus - Brazing equipment; Heliarc welding equipment; Oxyacetylene welding equipment; Portale gas operated arc welders

3.Manlift or personnel lift - Hydraulic truck lifts; Swing stages

4. Taps or dies - Dies; Taps

5. Welding masks - Hand shields; Weldings shields

6. Workshop presses - Brakes; Drill presses; Portable magnetic drill presses; Punch presses

Special Skills:

1. Ability to read and interpret blueprints, sketches, drawings and technical manuals (i.e.: electrical schematics.) preferred.
2. Perform basic mathematical functions.
3. Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
4. High performance and a strong team player.
5. Capability to coordinate work with supervisors, and other foreman.
6. Ability to work under deadlines and schedule pressures.
7. Commitment to company values and safety program.
