Aston Carter Accountant in Gardnerville, Nevada

The Accountant will be responsible for maintaining accurate financial records, preparing financial reports, and assisting with budget management. This role is crucial in ensuring the financial health and compliance of the operations.

Responsibilities

  • Maintain and reconcile financial records, including accounts payable and receivable.

  • Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements and reports.

  • Assist in the preparation and analysis of the budget, ensuring compliance with policies and regulations.

  • Process payroll and ensure accurate and timely payment to employees.

  • Assist with the preparation of financial audits and ensure compliance with federal and state regulations.

  • Provide support to various departments with financial inquiries and reporting.

  • Maintain accurate records of all financial transactions and ensure proper documentation.

  • Prepare accurate financial reports to departments and agencies.

  • Develop and maintain working relationships with Program Managers and Directors of assigned funds, enterprises, or departments.

  • Prepare account analysis of specific accounts.

  • Prepare bank reconciliations.

  • Assist accounting clerks in daily maintenance of accounts receivable, accounts payable, payroll, purchase orders, encumbrances, and check requests.

  • Prepare accurate monthly financial reports.

  • Schedule and prepare financial reports required by funding agencies.

  • Act as departmental supervisor in the absence of the Finance Director.

  • Use MIP accounting software and Microsoft Office software to maintain the general ledger and related journals in accurate and timely order.

  • Compile reports showing statistics of receipts, expenditures, accounts payable and receivable, profit and loss, fund balance, and other items pertinent to business or administration operations.

  • Review and approve purchase order requests and check requests.

  • Review receiving reports and match them to purchase orders to close/complete purchase orders or process partial payments.

  • Prepare and execute reimbursement requests and draw requests.

  • Reconcile bank statements, credit card reports, general ledger accounts, and other data, accurately tying detailed information to ledger totals.

  • Prepare and send monthly, quarterly, and yearly financial reports.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration, Accounting, or a related field.

  • 1-2 years of experience in general ledger accounting with a governmental entity or multiple companies owned by one organization.

  • Experience as an entry-level accountant or an accountant in a nonprofit or public entity.

  • Knowledge of GL, payment acquisitions, and various bank transactions.

Work Environment

The work hours are from 8 AM to 5 PM, with some flexibility on start and end times once training is complete. The position offers the potential to work 1-2 days from home, provided proficiency with grants.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $28.84 - $32.69
