Aston Carter Accounting Manager in Gardnerville, Nevada

The Accounting Manager coordinates and supervises the Accounting, Payroll, and Accounts Payable Divisions of the Controllers Department. This role includes responsibility for the preparation of the Annual Comprehensive Financial Report and assisting the Controller with the management and administration of the Department.
Responsibilities
Supervise and review the preparation and audit of the Annual Comprehensive Financial Report.
Oversee the preparation and review of financial documents to obtain the Certificate of Achievement for Excellence in Financial Reporting annually.
Supervise and direct the timely and accurate preparation of monthly or quarterly financial statements.
Provide guidance and assistance in carrying out policies and functions regarding accounts payable, travel, and budget violations.
Review payroll reports, including W-2’s, monthly and quarterly reports, and tax and related deposits for accuracy and completeness.
Supervise the monitoring of cash balances in funds and inform departments of potential budget problems and violations.
Supervise the preparation of cash flow projections for planning and budgeting purposes.
Evaluate operational performance, review work methods and procedures, and develop changes in work processes to ensure efficient operations.
Essential Skills
3-5 years of accounting experience, preferably in governmental accounting.
1 year of management-level accounting experience or supervisory experience.
Experience with month-end close periods, particularly a 10-day closeout.
Experience with grant accounting.
Year-end audit experience.
Experience with capital assets and depreciation (usually done quarterly).
Knowledge of government accounting is highly desired.
Work Environment
You will report directly to the CFO and have direct reports including 3 accountants, 1 AR clerk, and 2 AP clerks. The work schedule is typically 8am - 5pm, with some flexibility on star/end time once training is completed. There is an option to work 1-2 days from home, provided you are proficient with grants.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $43.26 - $50.48
