Army Installation Management Command Laundry Worker, NA-01/RPL in Garmisch, Germany

Summary About the position: This position is located in the Edelweiss Lodge and Resort, an AFRC Facility in Garmisch-Partenkirchen, Bavarian Alps, Germany. The purpose of this position is to perform a wide variety of tasks as a Laundry Worker in the hotel's Rooms Division. Responsibilities Performs work in support of the in-house laundry operation. Gathers and moves handcarts of bulk laundry consisting of soiled linen or laundry items to the washroom. Sorts laundry by type and fabric and assists in loading and unloading items into or out of washing machines and dryers. Shakes out tangled, semidry items for flatware ironing or hand-feeding into automatic spreaders. Folds and stacks ironed flatware. Operates press and delivers as required. Maintains cleanliness of the laundry area. Requirements Conditions of Employment SUPERVISORY CONTROLS: Work is performed under general supervision and reviewed for compliance with instructions, production, and quality standards. Supervisory assistance is readily available for non-routine matters. SKILL AND KNOWLEDGE: Must be able to perform repetitive movements, follow oral instructions, and read signs. Duties require the ability to work with others in a team effort. Eye-hand coordination is necessary to feed items into a flat work iron or automatic spreader. RESPONSIBILITY: Oral instructions are provided about how the work should be done, and the incumbent is responsible for following instructions and complying with standard methods and procedures for production and quality. PHYSICAL EFFORT: Required standing and walking on hard surfaces with some bending, lifting, pushing, and pulling of carts weighing up to 50 pounds. Most tasks require quick hand and arm movements and handling items weighing as much as 10 pounds to 20 pounds. WORKING CONDITIONS: Works inside in areas that are noisy, hot, and humid. Exposed to the possibility of bruises from moving carts or falls on wet floors in the washing area. CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT: Subject to satisfactory completion of all pre-employment checks in accordance with AR 215-3, para.2. Incumbent may also be required to complete a Tier 1 background investigation for a Common Access Card for physical access to federally controlled facilities. Must be able to handle items weighing 10 to 20 pounds. Qualifications Work experience performing similar duties. Education Education: High School graduate. Must possess the ability to communicate both orally and in writing. Must have the ability to read, write, and speak English fluently. Additional Information This is a limited tenure position not to exceed 15 months. It is an unaccompanied program because we cannot provide logistical support to family members. Dorm-style housing is provided in lieu of a living quarters allowance. Transportation to and from Germany is provided in accordance with the terms of the Joint Travel Regulation and the executed transportation agreement. Military spouses and family members currently residing within the Garmisch Military Community who apply under this announcement will be considered for a regular appointment. Male applicants born after December 31, 1959, must complete a Pre-Employment Certification Statement for Selective Service Registration. All Federal NAF employees are required by PL 104-134 to have salary payments made by electronic funds transfer/direct deposit. A probationary period may be required. Selection is subject to restrictions resulting from hiring preferences and priority consideration eligibility. Payment of Permanent Change of Station (PCS) costs is not authorized based on a determination that a PCS move is not in the government's interest. LQA is not authorized. This is a Nonappropriated Fund (NAF) position carrying out Morale, Welfare and Recreation (MWR) activities for the Army.
