Washington Water Service Company Foreman Construction in Gig Harbor, Washington

Washington Water Service Job Description: The Construction Foreman supervises and performs manual work with Washington Water Service Company (WWSC) crews and/or contractor crews in the maintenance and installation of all underground Company property and facilities; operates all construction equipment, including backhoes, vactor trucks and dump trucks. This position is located in Gig Harbor, WA. MAJOR DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Supervises and performs manual work with WWSC crews and/or contractor crews in the maintenance and installation of all underground Company property and facilities. Assists the Superintendent with preparing, planning and scheduling information for construction projects. Leads and supervises construction crew to complete tasks in a safe, efficient manner. Performs maintenance of construction equipment. Reviews blueprints and job sites. Orders fittings and parts. Ensures parts and fittings are loaded and brought to job site. Supervises the installation of piping and fittings, making sure they are installed properly. Ensures equipment is serviced and operating properly. Attends pre-construction meetings with Inspectors, coordinating with other contractors and utilities. Ensures traffic control is set up properly. Ensures PSI tests are completed, and satisfactory Bacteriological Samples are pulled, and as-builts are drawn, flow tests completed, all being submitted to Engineering. Participates in the Company's Continuous Improvement Process. Performs other duties as assigned. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: Any combination of education and experience that would likely provide the required knowledge, skills, and abilities is qualifying.A typical way to qualify is: High school diploma or GED Experience working in the construction field and around heavy equipment in ROW Valid State of Washington Class A Combination Driver's License with airbrakes and tanker endorsement First Aid (2 years) certificate desired Confined Space, Soils, and Asbestos certificates desired Competent Person/Cave-in Protection Certificate desired Flagger's card desired WDM2 and CCS Preferred Must obtain WDM2 and CCS within 24 months of hire Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities: Knowledge of supervisory principles, practices, and techniques Knowledge of the operations and maintenance of a water system Knowledge of all machines and tools used in the job Basic knowledge of electrical pumping plants Knowledge of hazardous materials and confined spaces Knowledge of rights of way and easements Knowledge of State, County, and City requirements for work being completed Knowledge of safety regulations, protocols, principles, practices and procedures for water systems, and work site safety Knowledge of jobs site Staking Knowledge of safe trenching around other utilities, preserving their integrity Experienced in operating heavy equipment Ability to read and understand blueprints and maps Ability to locate water mains with electronic equipment Ability to communicate well with others, both verbally and in writing Ability to understand and follow verbal and/or written policies, procedures and instructions Ability to use logical and creative thought processes to develop solutions according to written specifications and/or verbal instructions Ability to perform a wide variety of duties and responsibilities with accuracy and speed under the pressure of time-sensitive deadlines Ability to regularly interact with employees, public, and customers requiring common sense, tact and diplomacy in order to accomplish assignments Ability to provide outstanding customer service Ability to remain on-call Salary Ranges $65,800
