The Transportation Operator performs services essential to customer transport (pick-up and delivery) within Golden, customer service, and other duties necessary to support Transportation's overall mission. This position requires strong interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to navigate different situations and/or conflicts that might arise. Flexibility and reliability are essential skills needed for this position.

Description of Job

Primary Job Duties

Customer Transport

Comply with all state laws governing vehicle operation, Colorado School of Mines policies and procedures, and all relevant safety functions and regulations. Adhere to route schedules to ensure service is consistent and reliable. Communicate clearly and politely with all passengers, including answering questions and inquiries regarding service and routes. Maintain a safe and comfortable environment. Ensure passengers follow safety regulations. Provide passengers with assistance entering and exiting vehicles and help them with any luggage or other items (e.g., strollers, wheelchairs, bikes). Operate vehicles with specialized equipment, such as wheelchair lifts, to transport and secure passengers with additional needs. Communicate with managers, supervisors, and drivers by radio, phone, and computer to exchange information regarding service needs and alerts.

Vehicle/Equipment Serviceability

Perform daily pre-trip and post- trip inspections to ensure vehicles are safe and functional. Complete daily required paperwork. Perform routine vehicle maintenance, such as regulating tire pressure, adding fuel and other necessary vehicle fluids. Notify appropriate parties of vehicle problems. Regular cleaning of interior/exterior of vehicles, including washing, sweeping, mopping, sanitizing, dusting, waxing, etc.

Salary and Benefits

Hourly rate of $21.00-$25.00 per hour
