Job Description

The NREL Human Resources Department has an opening for a Recruiting Associate within the Talent Acquisition (TA) Team. The Recruiting Associate (RA) provides recruiting coordination support throughout the recruitment and on-boarding processes for NREL New Hires. The RA plays a pivotal role in moving the recruitment along through various stages of the hiring process. Recruiting Associates work directly with NREL Recruiters, Researchers, Business Support Professionals, Hiring Managers, and Business Partners to schedule interviews, arrange for candidate travel, create offer letters, and initiate candidate background check investigations. The RA plays a critical role in helping the NREL Talent Acquisitin Team hire the talented and diverse workforce that will allow the Laboratory to continue to create sustainable energy solutions for the future.

The successful candidate will be able to handle a high volume of recruitment related tasks, with a keen ability to prioritize deadlines, multiple projects, and ever-changing schedules, to ensure candidate satisfaction, and a smooth recruitment process for NREL stakeholders. The Recruiting Associate must have excellent attention to detail, being able to understand and implement DOE and NREL rules and regulations, as well as maintain confidentiality of proprietary and personal information. The RA will be a point of contact with externally facing customers, and internal stakeholders at every level of the enterprise. A candidate with a hands-on, and customer service-oriented approach is expected to make immediate contributions to NREL’s Talent Acquisition team in this position.

Responsibilities and Duties:

  • Coordinate candidate interviews and new hire on-boarding at a high-volume by partnering directly with Recruiters and Administrative Assistants, to support recruitment and selection practices.

  • Effective correspondence with candidates and recruiting team members regarding progress statuses.

  • Arrange travel and lodging for applicants when necessary.

  • Ability to maintain and manage multiple schedules and projects timelines efficiently, effectively, in a fast-paced environment.

  • Excellence with tracking multiple elements of the recruiting activities and weekly reporting.

  • Identify opportunities to elevate candidate experience and scheduling efficiency.

  • Prepares offer letters utilizing information in Workday that is provided by Recruiters.

  • Requests pre-employment background checks and arranges drug screens.

  • Assist with training programs for admins with a goal of improving recruiting and hiring efficiencies.

  • Researches, analyzes, prepares and presents hiring reports and statistics.

  • Maintains records on recruiting activities as required.

  • Participates in development of annual recruiting strategy plan.

  • ​Additional tasks in support of the Recruiting Team.

Basic Qualifications

High School Diploma or equivalent and 7 or more years of experience or equivalent relevant education/experience. Or, relevant Associate's Degree or certification program of comparable scope and 5 or more years of experience or equivalent relevant education/experience.

Additional Required Qualifications

  • This is a Colorado based position with a hybrid work arrangement. Position requires onsite presence at least one or more days a week, depending upon hiring needs.

  • Advanced skills in applicable software packages and office equipment (Microsoft products, specifically Excel, office scanners, virtual meeting platforms, etc.)

  • Broad knowledge of specific principles, procedures, and practices related to supported fields and disciplines.

  • Experience partnering with Recruiters with the hiring process.

  • Ability to work collaboratively with Administrative Assistant staff and managers across the laboratory.

  • Project administration and business services skills.

  • Experience with Adobe Pro.

  • Superb customer focus, strong attention to detail and organization skills.

  • Ability to work independently with minimal guidance and efficiently prioritize duties.

  • Strong organizational and project management skills.

  • Accustomed to managing multiple projects simultaneously and meeting multiple time sensitive deadlines.

  • Exhibits a positive, customer service attitude.

  • Maintain a high degree of confidentiality and professionalism in an environment with sensitive and proprietary information regarding technical and administrative activities.

  • Excellent interpersonal, communications, teamwork and problem-solving skills.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with interview scheduling and/or working with Recruiters preferred.

  • Proactive contributor - takes initiative and follows-through reliably.

  • A team-player; open to offer innovative and constructive ideas to continue our team's success and efficiency.

  • Strong working knowledge of applicant tracking systems (ATS) preferably Workday.

  • Intermediate Excel skills such as pivot tables.

  • Exposure to the hiring process for foreign national candidates.

Annual Salary Range (based on full-time 40 hours per week)

Job Profile: Specialist IV / Annual Salary Range: $49,100 - $78,600

NREL takes into consideration a candidate’s education, training, and experience, expected quality and quantity of work, required travel (if any), external market and internal value, including seniority and merit systems, and internal pay alignment when determining the salary level for potential new employees. In compliance with the Colorado Equal Pay for Equal Work Act, a potential new employee’s salary history will not be used in compensation decisions.
