POSITION SUMMARY

Utility Cleaner | Steward - EVENINGS AND NIGHT SHIFT

This position is for the evenings and night shifts mainly. Schedule is rotational and based on operational needs.

The utility steward assists in maintaining the highest standards of cleanliness in all food, beverage and kitchen areas. It is a physical job and Responsible for operating the dishwashing machine, three compartment pot sink, power wash machine and other industrial cleaning equipment. Moves equipment around to supply the various areas of the Food and Beverage department.

The ideal candidate will have:

  • Experience in operating high temperature dish wash machine and chemical knowledge, Overnight kitchen Cleaning, floor stripping and polishing preferred.

  • Experience as utility steward in luxury brand hotel with high volume of restaurant and banquet operation is preferred.

  • At least high school graduate

  • Commercial Driving License is an additional advantage

  • Ability to communicate in English required (read, write and speak).

  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment, able to work under pressure, while remaining flexible and efficient.

  • Must be able to work in any shifts including break shifts, weekends and holidays,

Duties & Responsibilities includes but not limited to:

  • Operate dish washing machine including proper wiping of the plates. Wash dishes, pots and pans, kitchen utensils, glasses, silverware, etc. Chemical knowledge is must.

  • Maintain mop station with mops/buckets, brooms, and proper cleaning solutions. Sweep and mop floors after every meal period. Keep floors clean and dry, pick up wet spills immediately. Record rail road duties in log book.

  • Clean walls, tables, racks sinks, floor mats and disposal area. Polish stainless steel.

  • Clean ovens, hoods, filters, drains, hot boxes, steam tables, flat boxes and ceiling vents, according to schedule or as directed.

  • Perform special projects and other responsibilities as assigned by supervisor and management.

Our Utility Cleaners play an important role in support of a number of vital hotel functions. At our hotels these associates may work across departments (e.g., kitchen, food and beverage, laundry) to support cleaning needs. Whether preparing fresh clean linen and spotless dining ware for guests to enjoy, operating and maintaining cleaning equipment and tools (e.g., dish washing machines, hand wash stations, linen washers and dryers), or transporting dishware or linens across the hotel, these associates do whatever it takes to get the job done.

Report accidents, injuries, and unsafe work conditions to manager. Move, lift, carry, push, pull, and place objects weighing less than or equal to 50 pounds without assistance. Stand, sit, or walk for an extended period of time. Reach overhead and below the knees, including bending, twisting, pulling, and stooping. Perform other reasonable job duties as requested by Supervisors.

Education: No high school diploma or G.E.D. equivalent.

Related Work Experience: No related work experience.

Supervisory Experience: No supervisory experience.
