TITLE OF POSITION: HR Payroll and Work Study Site Intern
CLASSIFICATION: Student Employee
PAYRANGE: $12.00 - $12.50
DEPARTMENT: Career Services
LOCATION: Grand Rapids, Lettinga Campus
REPORTS TO: Director of Career Services
SUMMARY:
This position acts as an HR assistant to the director of Career Services, performing HR and front office functions related to daily operations. These responsibilities are performed in an ethical manner consistent with the University's mission, vision, and values which include diversity, equity and inclusion.

Phones & Call Routing
Email - and Routing
• EmpowerU orientation
Open positions
Position requisition
Identifying applicant eligibility & communications with applicant
Converting unpaid non-profit internships to paid work study positions
• Handshake use
Finding off-campus community service work study supervisors
documenting communications
Marketing positions to students, coaches advisors and faculty
• DU Forms
Timesheets
Site agreements
Documenting time for Payroll
• Nursing student Certification follow up
Communication with grad nurses mailto:@ Midland and Warren
Documenting passing NCLEX
Confirming Nursing Licesure through LARA & communicating results for student reimbursement for the cost of NECLEX for successful grads
QUALIFICATIONS:
• Strong customer service and communication skills.
• Pursuing an HR Degree at Davenport University
• Must be enrolled in a minimum of 6 credit hours and meeting the standards of academic progress.
• Experience in office setting preferred but not required.
• Demonstrated ability to work accurately and effectively with computerized data systems (PC and mainframe).
• Demonstrated ability to work effectively with people of diverse backgrounds and promote a positive working environment, spirit of cooperation and positive reactions to change and conflict resolution.
• Demonstrated excellent interpersonal, communication and presentation skills, both written and oral which transcend diverse audiences.
• Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively and relate well to students, parents, faculty, staff, and others while maintaining appropriate confidentiality.
• Demonstrated motivational and problem solving capabilities with a high degree of integrity, ethics, and dedication to the mission of the University.
ENVIRONMENTAL FACTORS:
Business office environment. Prolonged sitting and standing. Use of personal computer and telephone (eye and hand strain). Some travel between locations may be required (own transportation). No regular lifting requirements, occasional lifting up to 35 pounds.
