About the Opportunity
Nuclear Power Programmes is one of the newest Business Units and has been formed with the vision to support positive change and help shape the future of Nuclear Power.
Operational throughout the UK and across continental Europe, we are seeking to expand our team on a variety of nuclear projects, which range in technologies and that find themselves at different stages of their development. As Project Engineer you will be part of the Engineering & Technical function within the Civil Works Programme and report to the Design Manager. You'll work as a Deputy Design Manager under the direction of the Design Manager focussing on technical aspects and surveillance (high level technical assurance) of Designer and Contractor designs. As a Deputy Design Manager you will be part of a team along with Geotechnical SMEs within CWP providing oversight, managing risks and assuring standards, processes and outputs across the supply chain. This role will be hybrid with 2-3 days required in the office. Key responsibilities:
Definition or validation of the Technical Requirements and Specification, including engagement with EDF Nuclear Services and Design Authority.
Support the management of technical Open Points and Design Changes This includes supporting progression through the technical governance processes including Replication Principles, Technical Direction Forum (TDF), No Change Committee (NCC) and Non-Permanent Works Change Committee (NPWCC).
Design Technical Assurance for the end-to-end design and ensuring acceptance can be provided, including reviews and approvals as defined by the surveillance plans.
Risk management through Risk Management Processes.
Support the Design Manager in technical input for Early Warnings, Compensation Events, Technical Queries, General Communications etc from L3 Design Supply Chain, including engagement with relevant technical stakeholders.
Co-ordination on technical interfaces with other parties, for example Site Establishment and Off-Site Infrastructure; NI Programme; CIBOP Programme; and Sizewell B.
Compliance with Engineering and Design processes, e,g, Design Management Plans, to deliver the whole lifecycle of the Design, from Technical Requirement capture to EDR.
Collaborate with the team in delivery of design in accordance with the Contract Schedule's under their management and linked to the Integrated Work Schedule (IWS).
Honours Degree in Civil or Structural Engineering or equivalent.
Experience in the design and implementation of safety-related structures, systems and components.
Higher degree (MSc, MEng or PhD) in Ground Engineering / Geotechnics.
Experience in delivery or management of design of Civil Engineering projects.
Chartered Engineer or Chartered Geologist (MICE, MIStructE, CGeol) or working towards chartership.
